Kevin Smith, huh? But, kind of, for the more sentimental viewers this time.
You know, I liked most of Jersey Girl but the ending was awfully bad here. Awfully BAD. Who could have expected that amount of cliches and sentimentality in a movie directed by the same man who gave us Clerks and Chasing Amy?! Not me, that's for sure - I was expecting a clever twist all the time and it refused to come.
My least favourite Kev Smith film.

Jersey Girl was a welcome surprise from Kevin Smith. At first I was a bit disappointed to hear no Jay & Silent Bob would appear in the film but after watching it I understand why. Its a warm hearted comedy, George Carlin was excellent in this & I didn't care for the Benifer tabloids about Gigli to dismiss this film. Its rare, that I watch a film twice in one week, but this was one of 'em.

I loved it. Sure, it wasn't typical Smith, but I'm one who loves to see directors go in different directions every once in a while. It proves Kev does have a soft side & I totally wasn't disappointed in the movie at all! So Bart, the only reason you didn't like it is b/c it didn't have a clever twist ending? Or did you get bogged down w/ all the sentimental emotional stuff too?

I didn't like the way he handled it emotionally, either. And please don't think I can't accept "emotions" in a movie - in my opinion Chasing Amy is a perfect example of how to mix emotions and comedy; that type of the mix I just love! But in Jersey Girl the balance wasn't right for me.

Loved it. Kevin Smith has an eye for an emotion, which I really hadn't realized until I saw this film.
...But the Jersey Chronicles are way better.

JG did go overboard a little w/ the emotions at times, but still a good movie. I'm not a girly-girl but I do like a movie every once in a while that will make me cry.

Yeah, I was kinda teary-eyed while watching Chasing Amy too....but it's been awhile since I've watched it so I can't really compare the effects on my emotions from the two movies right now.
