Here is my preview thread on the first batch of movies to be released in 2005.
January 7th, 2005
White Noise - EVP is a really interesting phenomenon, and I think it would make a very interesting movie. Besides, it's nice to see Michael Keaton working again.
January 14th, 2005
Elektra - I must've been one of the few people who liked Daredevil, but I ALWAYS thought this was a good idea for a spinoff, and the trailer looks really good. I know trailers can be deceiving (see Van Helsing), but I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
Coach Carter - This looks very good. It's being released a little early in the year to be considered for Oscars, but Samuel L. Jackson might be giving a worthy performance.
Racing Stripes - To me, it looks like this movie doesn't know what it wants to be. It's like it's trying to mix Babe with Seabiscuit. A very odd cast, too. Frankie Muniz and David Spade in the same movie with Joe Pantoliano and Dustin Hoffman? Odd casting indeed. I have no opinion.
January 21st, 2005
Are We There Yet? - Um... A family comedy. Might have some surprises up its sleeve, but I'm not really expecting much from it.
January 28th, 2005
Hide and Seek - I've seen it already at an advanced screening. IT SUCKED. Robert De Niro needs a new agent.
February 4th, 2005
Boogeyman - The title makes it sound like Hollywood is running out of ideas, but I'll definitely be checking this one out. The trailer was intense!
February 11th, 2005
Hitch - God, this movie looks funny. Can't wait for this one.
Pooh's Heffalump Movie - Never got into Pooh. Looks like Disney's cashing in on Pooh again. Not cool.
February 18th, 2005
Constantine - GOD this looks cool! Can't wait for this one to come out.
Son of the Mask - No. NO! NOOOOOO! WHY? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY?
February 25rh, 2005
Man of the House - This looks pretty funny, actually.
March 4th, 2005
Pacifier, The - A move in the right direction for Vin Diesel. The man needs a Kindergarten Cop.
Be Cool - Seen it already. Really good movie.
March 11th, 2005
Robots - Looks very funny, and it's got Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams, Halle Berry, and Mel Brooks. Can't wait.
Sound of Thunder, A - Pushed back a few months. I hope this time was spent on making the special effects look better, because in the trailer, they totally looked like shit.
Mindhunters - Wait, this is STILL going to be released? The first trailer for this movie was seen in summer 2003 if I remember correctly, and now it's being released in March 2005? When a release is pushed back that far, that's NEVER a good sign.
March 18th, 2005
Ring Two, The - The word "teaser" has never been more appropriate. I can't wait.
March 25th, 2005
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous - The first one was passable entertainment, but WHAT THE HELL IS THE STUDIO THINKING? Nobody asked for this sequel!
Guess Who - A remake with a twist on the races. Looks funny enough, though.
