But none of that compares to Lawrence of Arabia. David Lean's 3.5 hour film about Lawrence (here on called Larry) as he helps Arabs battle Turks, blows up a lot of stuff, gives the desert hell while respecting it's majesty...this is a beautiful film. From the score to the cinematography to the direction, everything about this film is simply brilliant. Tottally agree. My vote for Lawrence of Arabia.

What about these movies?
Ed Gein Bundy Dahmer Gacy
They're kinda crappy (except Gacy which I haven't seen yet), but aren't they biopics?

Way to go tuffguy!! *sniff* I guess they'd have to be recycled into a "Best crappy biopics" thread or something...

I picked Lawrence of Arabia. I haven't seen a few of the movies in the poll, so I guess my vote isn't completely accurate. I just loved the sprawling look of the film and the acting was superb!

I just saw The Aviator (about eclectic eccentric Howard Hughes) and I might say, for someone that cares very little for Leo DiCaprico, I fuckin loved the movie. Then again, I've always found Huges to be goddamn fascinating. The world needs more crackpot eccentrics like him. Kinda sucky that our closest anti-social richboy eccentric is that weiner Axl Rose. At least Huges was an intelligent, and innovative man who left his stamp on the world to this day.
Would that count as a biopic? Or would it have to have been called, "Howard Hughes" or something with his name in the title?

I'd count it as one, personally.
I think Howard Hughes is the only one Martin Scorsese has ever really glorified and made to look good. Watch his other biopics and you'll see what I'm saying.

Of course THE AVIATOR counts as a biopic. And a damn good one, I might add.

Very well then--my years of loathing Leonardo DiCaprio as "just some bitch-ass pretty boy" are officially coming to a close.
I vote "OTHER" and by that I'm saying my favorite biopic is "THE AVIATOR"
Previous pretty boys I hated that eventually became favorites are Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt. My mind was changed into liking them by Edward Scissorhands & Sleepy Hollow and 12 Monkeys & Fight Club respectively. I'm not too big on actors being loved just because the women love them. They have to star in bizarre, unnattractive roles to get me to like 'em.
