Yes, I ripped off this poll idea from IMDB. So, sue me. ;D
Okay, so as the old guard gets older and the new breed of action stars (The Rock, Vin Diesel, etc.) get more and more roles, who do you feel should hang up the guns & holsters and start playing roles that are more their age? My vote goes for 74 yr old Sean Connery. The original Bond needs to stop embarassing himself in crap like THE AVENGERS and THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. ENTRAPMENT was okay, but having a leading lady who could be your daughter (Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is 39 yrs younger) is kinda tacky. The last time he played this kind of part somewhat convincingly was probably in THE ROCK in 1996. We love you Sean, but you've proven you're a tough guy over and over again. It's time to play grandfathers and more mentor roles like FINDING FORRESTER.

I beg to differ. Sean Connery is NEVER too old for ANYTHING. I, for one, enjoy watching the old man kick some ass. He's got a certain coolness to him, and I never want to see him stop kicking ass.

While I agree he'll always have a certain coolness, it's time for him to play cool grandfathers and the like. His choices in action movies leads me to believe he may be getting a little senile in his old age too. "LEAGUE..." just out and out sucked. He turned down LORD OF THE RINGS, but did "LEAGUE..."?? WTF?? So, besides disagreeing with my choice, you don't feel any of these guys should step aside as an action star?

Tough poll.
I choose Jackie Chan, not much so in the sense that he is too old to be an action star, just the fact that he has made too many films & they tend to get repetitive.
Sean Connery is too old to kick ass. Maybe the Scotish can help him out by starring him in the lead role The Grandfather. ;D

Not Sean Connery, no. Harrison Ford springs to my mind more easily 'cause I think he lost his original magic many years ago... still: I watch all his new movies in vain hope that he "finds his young self" finally. So, uh, keep on playing, Harrison. Sly and Arnold are getting too old for Rambos and Terminators but I don't think they should give up acting yet. Seriously. After all, my favourite film starring Sly is Copland. Bruce can get old and still kick arse. For sure. So can Mel Gibson. And Jackie Chan. So, Steven Seagal's left.

Sly and Arnold are getting too old for Rambos and Terminators but I don't think they should give up acting yet. I didn't say they should give up ACTING. I was asking who should give up ACTION? I agree Sly should do more character-driven movies like COPLAND, which was excellent.

I didn't say they should give up ACTING. I was asking who should give up ACTION? Okay, okay - I know. Still: I think Arnold looked very much an action hero in T3 , so he wouldn't have to give it up just yet. And Sly still has the next Rocky to do. The clock is ticking, then, but they both still have some action time ahead of them.

I won't agree with anyone saying Arnie's too old for ACTION. He is still in good workink order Maybe a bit outdated model but still functioning like hell

I voted for Sylvester If anyone he's most fitting to that category But to be honest I'm against agism that is age racism and prejudicies connected to it. If you think a guy is too old or too young you don't have to be tormented by his appereance or awkwardness in an unsuitable role simply don't go to the theatre

I love Sean Connery, but when I saw League I knew his days of punching people in the face are long over.

Finally! Thank you, Pheonix! I was starting to think I was the only one who thought that about Connery. Great actor, but really, come on!
