In this months FHM(ForHimMagazine) they compiled a list of the 100 greatest bloke films, accompanied by a 'did you know'.
NOTE; Some have spoilers to certian movies so beware!
Here are some of them...
This is spinal tap;
Ofthe films $3 million budget, the stars were given $10,000 to develop the script. The blew the cash and improvised on a 20 minute showreel.
LA Confidential;
Despite being a critical favourite, it was pipped by James Camerons Titanic for best picture, incredibly no movie set wholely in LA has ever won best picture.
Grosse Point Blank;
The assassin who gets it with a ball point pen, is actually John Cusacks real life kickboxing instructor.
Equilibrium;
The kick ass concept of gun-kata (martial arts with guns) was founded by the director playing about in his garden.
The Warriors;
Based on The Anabasis, an ancient greek tale depicting senophons epic struggle to get home through hostile territory.
Raging Bull;
During his rigorous training, Bobby DeNiro fought 3 and won 2 amatuer matches.
Taxi Driver;
DeNiros famous scene was written as... look at mirror and say, 'you talking to me'... He blagged the rest.
Carlitos Way;
DePalma wanted the films frantic climax to be shot at the World Trade Center... but the 93' bombing changed their plans.
True Romace;
In original script Clarence Sorley met his maker in hotel room shootout.
The untouchables;
Bob hoskins was originally cast as Capone until they found out DeNiro wanted to do it!
Face Off;
Originally this movie was set in the year 2030 starring Arnie and Sly!!!
Seven;
Brad Pitt threatened to walk out of picture, when studio bosses demanded the end be re-shot, showing Mills & Somerset stopping Kevin Spaceys John Doe just before he kills tracy.
First Blood;
In book, John Rambo died at the end... something Stallone wanted changed... which prompted Kirk Douglas to back out.... (He was Col Truaman.)
Raiders Of The Lost Ark;
In the well of souls, the heiroglyphics depict C3PO and R2-D2 being worshipped by egyptians.
Old School;
Amazingly director Todd Phillips sees Old School as a comedic version of Fight Club.
Oceans Eleven;
Bruce Willis, Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, Mike Myers and Michael Douglas were all interested and offered the smaller parts of the 11... however all pulled out becuase of schedule problems.
Blade;
Originally when Blade exited the building having defeatedthe blood god, he would see that infact everyone had been turned into vampires... budget restraints stopped this.
Predator;
The evil alien may have stood at 7ft 2ins thanks to Kevin Hall... but originally it stood at a measly 5ft 8ins... Jean Claude Van Damme left after 2 days on set!
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly;
Is actually a prequel to the first two... If youll notice he gradually acquires his attire for a Fistful of dollars.
Rocky;
Bette Midler pulled out from playing Adriene.
Back To The Future;
Eric Stolz pulled out of playing MArty McFly 2 days before filming.
Saving Private Ryan;
Tom Hanks character was originally supposed to live, at the expense of Ed Burns character. Whoever Hanks insisted his character bit the dust and Speilberg agreed thinking it better if Burns lived.
Bad Boys;
Originally cast as the 2 'bad boys'... Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz!!!
The Usual Suspects;
The script was so confusing that up until the first showing, most of the cast including Gabrile Byrne thought that his character Dean Keaton was Keyser Soz.
There are others but these where the best.
