I honestly thought this was an underrated movie. I saw it because the Philip K. Dick fan in me wanted to see it. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
My one complaint is that it SHOULD have had an R rating. They would have been able to do so much more with it; ESPECIALLY with John Woo at the helm. Just my opinion though.

First film I wasn't disappointed with John Woo behind the wheel. ;D Finally. Now he can continue making his usual slo-mo flicks.

A Philip K. Dick fan inside ME also wants to see Paycheck. But he was patient enough to wait for the DVD release here in Poland - which just happened last weekend.
The movies I now have to rent for the sake of the Controversial Movies polls are: Underworld, Dumb And Dumberer (I still want to see this one for some reason) and Paycheck.

As much as I loved Face/Off and M:I 2, Paycheck thoroughly disappointed me. It just didn't seem to have the grace of either of my Woo's favourite movies. And though it is still better than Windtalkers (thanks to two or three good set pieces), I think that this director started shooting too "common" movies for my taste and his name no longer excites me.

Thats an excellent point Bart!
There was a time when a 'Woo' film was fresh and attracted me... now its be done and he just seems to have fizzled out.
The name no longer excites me.

Thanks, neptunes! But yeah - it's really sad when you feel that all the hope is lost with a director whose movies you once cherished. I still think the miracle may happen and the future holds one or two good movies by Woo but hell - several years ago I thought the future is FULL of good movies by Woo.

I love Hard Target, Broken Arrow & Face/Off.....good lazy day movies to just sit around & watch when you're in the mood for an action movie. MI2 & Windtalkers were ok.

Speaking of John Woo flicks...
" Variety reports that John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat may reteam in "The War of the Red Cliff," Woo's first Chinese film in more than a decade. The starring role has been offered to Chow Yun-Fat, who worked with Woo in 1992's "Hard Boiled."
The film will have a budget of $36 million, making it the most expensive Chinese movie ever made. That record was previously held by "Hero," which stars Jet Li and Zhang Zi-Yi.
"The War of the Red Cliff" is based on historical events that took place in China 1,700 years ago and on a chapter in the popular novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." Some 600 years after its publication, the book is still widely read in China.
Production would begin in 2006."
