I'm going for I, Robot.
Besides the obvious reason that it's probably the biggest movie to come out this summer AFTER Spider-man 2, I am also drawn in by Alex Proyas, the incredible director of the Crow and Dark City. How many people knew that THIS GUY was directing I, Robot. I didn't know until I looked it up on IMDb.
Oh, and by the way:
I DID NOT MURDER HIM!
In other news, the Door in the Floor looks interesting. I like Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger... although I wish I knew what it was about.
A Cinderella Story looks like crap. Seriously, haven't filmmakers learned by now that Hilary Duff can't act? Can we leave the classic fairy tales alone? Oh, sorry. This is HOLLYWOOD we're talking about.

If I went to the movies this weekend I'd see 'I, Robot'. I didn't know that Alex was directing it, gives me even more of a reason to see it now. As for the other two, I'm w/ ya Smitty, I have no idea what 'Door...' is about & I have no desire at all to see 'Cinderella Story'.

I'm very interested in this one since it was announced. Let's hope it's not just f/x show-off and Asimov's book was actually used there. The Door In The Floor should be a good one, too.

Just saw I, Robot.
I, Robot: I DID NOT MURDER HIM!
Plot - 10/10 Unoriginal as it is, this plot of machines becoming self-aware and having a revolution NEVER gets old.
ACTING - 10/10 Will Smith was great, and Alan Tudyk was excellent.
SCREENWRITING - 8/10 It was great for the most part, but lost a couple of points, because it's not as dark as most of Proyas' works. Will Smith has too many witty/comedic lines, which takes away from the atmosphere. I DID like how the comic relief (Shia LaBeouf) had minimal screen time. But too much wit. The Proyas I'm used to didn't have room for wit.
DIRECTION - 10/10 Alex Proyas. 'Nuff said.
VISUALS - 10/10 If anything will draw you to this film, it is the mindblowing special effects. Really nice and realistic CGI.
MUSIC Didn't notice, didn't score.
OVERALL This is one of the better films of the summer; the best blockbuster since Troy. And really, what more can I say? It's Alex Freakin' Proyas!
THE SMITTY APPROVES. (9.6/10)

Saw a good portion of A Cinderella Story during a break. Here's what I gathered.
A Cinderella Story: What's This? Hilary Duff... ACTING?
PLOT - 8/10 You might think I'm crazy here, but yes. The plot is good. They had a very creative and unique way of modernizing the classic fairy tale, and it is good.
ACTING - 8/10 Wow, is it just me, or is Hilary Duff actually starting to ACT now? Sure, she's not perfect yet, but it's a huge improvement over her annoying performance in Cheaper by the Dozen. Jennifer Coolidge and Regina King were also entertaining in their own way. I have absolutely no opinion on Chad Michael Murray.
SCREENWRITING - 6/10 Quite enjoyable, but not really all that special. It's got some lines in there that are a little too... PG... for my tastes. But hey, you gotta love it when someone refers to Norway as "Norweigia".
DIRECTION - 5/10 Nothing special here.
VISUALS - 8/10 When it comes to looks, Hilary Duff is no longer "old and busted". There's some real eye candy in this one.
MUSIC I really don't like Duff as a singer. She's like a mini-Britney in that department. Too much audio synthesis. Fortunately, her music only plays during the ending credits. The target audience will probably feel different, so I didn't score it.
Just barely, but...
THE SMITTY APPROVES. (7/10)
