What were the historical mistakes in these films? Which one's the saddest from the historical point of view?

Not sure if this is a riddle or a rhetorical question. I would guess that all of these movies played fast & loose with the facts, changed things around for cinematic impact, etc., but my vote goes for FROM HELL. The identity of Jack the Ripper was never discovered. Still liked the movie though. ;D

my vote goes for FROM HELL. The identity of Jack the Ripper was never discovered. AND the lobotomies of the kind presented in From Hell didn't happen until 1945. Good choice, Heineken! I had a tough choice between U-571 (these weren't Americans who captured Enigma) and Prince Of Thieves (Wanted posters on trees - at the times when most people can't read! ...and there are no printing presses!); eventually, U-571 won as it is supposed to be a much more serious movie. So... do you want me to reveal all the inaccuracies or to you want to guess? Note: please don't think I'm so good at history - I didn't spot all the mistakes from the poll myself.

Ok, I am very good with history, and these are a collective bunch.
I discount From Hell right away as that isnt so much aimed at facts, more of a shell of an idea and redone. Becuase when you start counting movies like that, then you have to count films like Titanic (someone in the poor section could NEVER get close to someone in the first class) or Pearl Harbour.
Gladiator is also a funny one.
Gangs Of New York, is pretty accurate in that the gangs, the hate filled fighting and the racist tension was all there as much as people of america may not want to admit. In fact I have read books on those times and if you take out the actual characters then it is very accurate.
So that narrows it to...
Braveheart, Indiana jones, U-571, & Robin Hood.
While all these have some minor/major flaws I think Braveheart is the worst. Its a great movie granted but thats what it is... a movie.
I'm not gonna list everything but it just wasnt that black and white.
