Do you know what movies inspired them? If yes - tell us.
Do you know any other band names inspired by movies? If yes - you know what to do.
And please pick your favourite name in the poll (NOT favourite band - just name). My is probably Nerfherder: not only does it sound good but I also love the movie that inspired it.

Duran Duran(taken from a character in "Barbarella") is my choice. And no, not just b/c they are one of my favorite bands. Nerfherder would be my second choice. I think they did the theme song for the Buffy tv series.

Barbarella is the correct source for Duran Duran, yes (sorry for the hasty comma I put in this name in the poll). What about the others? Anyone?

The only 'Travis' I can think of is Travis Bickle from 'Taxi Driver'. And obviously 'Nerfherder' is from SW...

Not a movie, but the band Eve6 was named after "The X-Files" episode "Eve".

The Tyrell Corporation was from Blade Runner. I'm surprised no one got that yet.

Yup, it was. And a hint as for the other two: Moloko and Heaven 17 were inspired by the same movie. And it's mentioned here and there on the board.

Clockwork Orange? Anyway, I picked Nerfherder because that word has always made me laugh. Even before I met my husband!

Clockwork Orange it is! And a good choice, Sybillness! And Mogwai? Another e-a-s-y one. No, really.

Yeah ok, I'm assuming that Mogwai is from GREMLINS.

It is!
Now the only one left is a motorcycle classic. And NOT Easy Rider.

To kick this thread out of here, let me just tell you that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club was inspired by The Wild One. There - now you know everything!
