In this month's issue of Empire magazine they pay tribute to the great Al Pacino. The above poll comes from their survey of his best work. My choice is so, so close between Godfather & Scarface, but ultimately I went w/ Scarface. To me his portrayal of Tony Montana was more emotional & sympathetic & the character experienced a wider arc than that of Michael Corleone in The Godfather. But like I said, it was very close between the two.

"The Godfather"...But really it's "The Godfather part 2" where he really comes into his own...Truly stunning acting on so many levels.

Ha! One of the most difficult polls, this one! I voted for Scarface 'cause I love the amount of craziness Pacino injected into his role there (especially at the very beginning of the movie) but to be honest ALL his roles in the movies mentioned in the poll are special.
OT: So you read Empire, too, livingdeadgirl? How cool!

Well, actually I just read what they post on their web site. I really should get a subscription to the actual magazine though.

Well, actually I just read what they post on their web site. I really should get a subscription to the actual magazine though. You won't regret it - a great magazine Empire is! My subscription ended several months ago and now I'm trying to buy every issue as soon as it comes out in Poland but it's not so easy to get it here, plus, obviously, it's more expensive this way, I don't get any extras (like nice soundtrack collections they sometimes added to the subscribed magazines) AND I get it about two weeks later than I used to. And the Godfather movies? Yes, I'm a fan of Number 2, as well.

Out of these particular choices I went with DOG DAY AFTERNOON. A great movie that I highly recommend to any of you who haven't seen it. If GODFATHER 2 had made the list, then I probably would've voted for it. I feel that it's more his movie than the first GODFATHER. I always thought his performance in SCARFACE was good, but sometimes slips into over the top hysterics.

I picked DONNIE BRASCO. I really felt for his character in that movie. Like a few others, my first choice would have been G2, except it's not listed.

Man, I always get teary-eyed at the end of DB when he's getting ready to leave after he's been 'sent for'. Gets me every time... And it's so ironic to see him as the powerful head of a mafia family in GF & then as a soldier busting open parking meters for money in DB.
