Went w/ The Poseidon Adventure too, although I thought The Towering Inferno was pretty good.

Sorry, I haven't seen Poseidon yet.
So I went with my favorite disaster flick thus far, Armageddon.

I'm not too sentimental about disaster movies: I usually enjoy them when they come out but I think they get old quickly and lose most of their impact.
Therefore I vote for Armageddon. Also enjoyed Dante's Peak quite a lot.
And is The Abyss a disaster movie?

And is The Abyss a disaster movie? Or INDEPENDENCE DAY? I haven't seen it, but what about THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW? I would think that would qualify before those two. I'll go with POSEIDON ADVENTURE. Gene Hackman is great as the kick-ass priest! ;D

Sorry, I haven't seen Poseidon yet. Good god man!! Have you been living under a rock?? j/k....It is a good movie though. Hackman was great, like Heineken said, & also Ernest Borgnine & Shelly Winters. I think Red Buttons was in it too, it's been a good while since I watched it though.

A lot of people put The Abyss down as an "undersea disaster flick."
