NO! Kate Beckinsale's accent was horrible!
I think Brad Pitt's accents are pretty good. He was great in Troy.

I saw Troy over the weekend and I was not disappointed. The overall look of the movie was great and the costumes were fantastic. I wasn't too sure how believable Brad Pitt would be in a period piece, but I think he pulled it off. The fact that he looks so good doing it is icing. I know people are disappointed that the gods were left out, but this movie wasn't about the gods, it was about the men and their interpretations and superstitions. And the hussy that started all the crap. Could have used a little more exposition for people who are unfamiliar with mythology (ie: Achilles heel, hello?), the only thing they even partially explained was the coins over the eyes to pay the boatman.

GLADIATOR, which is in a similar vein, won Best Picture and a bunch of other Oscars, and I thought TROY was better than that. Even though it's almost three hours long I was never bored. It was the other way round for me: Gladiator was great entertainment AND a movie with a very original feel to it, while Troy is great entertainment full stop. If we discuss actors, Eric Bana was the man there - I'm glad the makers let him be married to Saffron Burrows to return the favour. Brad Pitt was very good and convincing, too, and so were all the supporting actors and actresses. Orlando Bloom wasn't bad either, in my opinion - this not-so-macho role kind of suits him; but he's no match for Bana or Pitt. What bothered me, though, was that Troy turns out to be a very formulaic epic film - you don't feel a hand of a genius director there. Also, after Hector does his thing (you know WHICH thing, guys; and let's not spoil the film to those who haven't yet seen it), it all ceased to be interesting for me. I know it sounds mean but it's true: I was watching the whole ending without much emotion. And did it feel overlong? Yup, it did! The wonderful set pieces save Troy from more criticism: the Hector vs Achilles fight, Achilles' introductory 'fight', arriving at the shore of Troy - all of them fabulous! I liked the movie but felt disappointed as well.

I obviously got caught up in the movie a little more than you, but those were all good points, Bart. Just out of curiosity, what would you rate it on a scale of 1 - 10?

I think 7 is fair. But I usually wait some 12 hours before rating movies - the first impression isn't always final in my case; and I just came back from the theatre so it's unofficial, you know. Don't tell anyone I violated my rule.

Here's another star shitting where he sleeps: Legendary actor Peter O'Toole has launched a blistering attack at his last movie Troy and its director Wolfgang Petersen. O'Toole starred as Priam alongside a star-studded ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger in the mythical epic. But the 72-year-old Irish actor hated working with German film-maker Peterson and was disappointed with the finished product. He says, "Ugh, what a disaster. The director, that Kraut, what a clown he was. When it was all over, I watched 15 minutes of the finished movie and then walked out. At least I had one good scene."Maybe O'Toole & Affleck should start their own production company so they don't have to deal with jerks like Kevin "Anything for a Buck" Smith & Wolfgang "The Kraut" Petersen. Sheesh!

Harrison "I hate my best movies" Ford could join them probably.

Oh I don't know. The only one of his popular movies that I've ever heard Harrison Ford openly bad mouth is BLADE RUNNER. He wants to do another Indiana Jones and he seems to have no problem participating in interviews for the STAR WARS trilogy. He has admitted to hating the Ewoks though.

Hmm, I thought he's not too fond of the Han Solo character. You're the Star Wars expert, however, so I guess I was wrong.

Hmm, I thought he's not too fond of the Han Solo character. You're the Star Wars expert, however, so I guess I was wrong. The only thing I'm sure of, is that Ford thought that Han Solo should've died in RETURN OF THE JEDI to add some dramatic weight to the character, because he didn't think Solo really brought much to the plot of the movie. Needless to say, Lucas didn't agree. Pheonix: ;D
