Okay, maybe I'm really overly biased here, but when the whole world seems to love a movie as much as this one and then someone like me stands up and says, "Does nobody realize it's complete SHIT?" I have to wonder if it's me or the world who is a complete farking lunatic.
This movie is marketed as a comedy, right? In what regard? I found it agonizingly painful to watch. What are we supposed to laugh at? The afro? The horrible clothes? The whole point is that we're supposed to laugh at Napoleon and his utter failure to be human in any way shape or form. Is it just me, or does that seem a little bit cruel?
In the meantime, all I can do is pray that nobody like him really exists.
When I reviewed this movie for IMDB, I gave it 1.5 out of 4 because the milk pick-up line made me smirk. I think I may have been generous.

Hey there, schmimic! Napoleon Dynamite was gaining OK-notes here on The Board so far, but who said you shouldn't be the first one to hate it with passion, right? For further discussion, you may want to check a thread on ND in the Cult Movies section.

I'm not the only one who has such thoughts, then, thank you ;D - you are welcome to state such 'biased opinions' ( I meant my thoughts in general cause I haven't seen ND Movie)

Its not you, it 20th Century Fox Searchlight Pictures which put the spotlight into the weak minded, me included as I blind bought this film, thinking independent is the only way to go right now for a decent Hollyweird flick. I seen the trailer on the net a few times before the actual film & most of what I saw on the trailer ruined the experience of this shitty masterpiece.

I loved it. I didn't watch TV, so my experience was in no way tainted.
The humor in this movie comes from the fact that it's not overplayed, and the jokes are almost completely random. The one-liners are memorable; my friends and I quote them to this day.

Overrated. Don't believe the hype.

My wife advised against it.
While we disagree on a lot of the crap horror films I watch all the time, we tend to agree on a lot of films similar to this. For instance, we both liked Sideways and Lost in Translation.
However, I liked I (heart) Huckabees and she hated it.
Usually, we're a little more in tune.

I think it gets funnier with every viewing.

When I saw it, I had to let it sink in. But the next day I caught myself quoting the movie like mad. To this day, I catch myself at work, saying "Gosh!" or "Frickin' idiot!"
It's got charm to it. What can I say?

Honestly, I think the more people run around quoting it, the more I hate it. My brother and stepson are guilty of doing this, and all it does is make me even more annoyed at the movie.

Have pity on them. If they're like me, they don't realize they're doing it until after they've done it.

I get very annoyed now that everytime I say "idiot" or "freaking...idiot" or anything like that, things I've said before this goddamn movie, it's automatically a reference to it.
THEM: So I went and jumped in a lake under the full moon last night when it was like 32 degress outside. ME: Idiot! THEM: Oh, Napolean Dynamite! ME: Idiot.

This isn't directed at you Smitty or Frankenjohn, but I'm convinced that most people who claim to love that movie, really just love quoting it in that annoying voice more than they love the actual movie. LOL, Pulp! I can relate to using terms like "idiot" and "freakin' idiot" before they became Napoleon quotes. I still use them on a regular basis. How can you get through this life and not use them?
