What extras does it have? I like the movie but on my limited budget I usually just save it for movies I really love & ones w/ lots of good extra stuff. Well, having just picked it up yesterday, I haven't actually watched it yet, but according to the package the extras include: AN INSIDE LOOK WITH THE FILMMAKERS LOOKING INTO THE PAST: THE RESEARCH, THE SCREENPLAY & THE VISION THE MAKING OF A PLATOON BOOT CAMP FOR THE CAST RE-CREATING D-DAY: OMAHA BEACH AND MUCH MORE! (Whatever that means.) It's a two-disc set and the package looks like an ammo case which is kinda cool. It ran me $19.99 at Best Buy, which I think is a really good price. They also had an even more special edition box set which includes this dvd set plus two feature length documentaries about WWII. It was about double the price of the set I bought.

My brother just picked up Return of the King, so I guess we'll be watching it for, oh, the next TWELVE hours or so...

;D That's about how long all those LOTR movies seem to me. Sheesh, I love the movies, but they're just too frickin' long. I guess I just have a short attention span when it comes to any kind of long movie. I just can't sit still that long.

Picked up Bubba Ho-Tep & Manhunter today. Well, I guess technically it was yesterday now, but you know what I mean. Can't wait to watch BHT. It'll be nice to see King Bruce in action again!

Watched Bubba Ho-Tep yesterday...looooved it! good(but bizarre) story, great acting, cool music. I didn't really know what to expect, I figured it was gonna be a comedy, or dark comedy, but it had some serious undertones in there that I wasn't expecting. Loved the dark comedy & the pure lmao moments. And also the comic relief from the nurse & the two morgue attendants. Thought this movie had a lot of heart too, & Bruce & Ossie Davis really brought a lot of sympathy to their characters. Haven't had a chance to watch the special features yet, but they look to be pretty cool.

I bought Return Of The King most recently, and before that, Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World. I'm very anxiously awaiting the QUANTUM LEAP set for Season 1.

But you have already seen Master And Commander, Unbend? And liked it? Now, for me this movie is quite a mystery still (see a thread on it in Off The Chest if you're interested in the details of my confusion).
Livingdeadgirl: glad to hear Bubba's good!

I saw Master and Commander twice before buying it, and I really love it. I don't know if I'd say that the movie was mispromoted as an action movie. There certainly wasn't as much action in it as there was in Troy, but the few major action sequences were very intense, I thought. I think the fact is that you can't promote a movie by dialogue and human drama anymore. You take even Return Of The King as an example. That trailer was nothing more than a lot of narrative lines played over shots of battle. It didn't promote itself by the story or developments of characters. For me, I loved Master and Commander partly because I love all the Jack Aubrey books. Even though the movie didn't follow the Far Side Of The World book very closely, it captured everything that makes all 20 Jack Aubrey books so great. The books were written as very realistic British Naval adventure stories, and that's what the movie was as well. I think it is a little unfortunate that most movies promote themselves as just one thing. Action, comedy, drama. It's possible that if you watched Master and Commander without having any expectations of what it would be like, you may have enjoyed it more.

The last DVD I bought was a region 2 DVD special edition of the british movie "10 Rillington Place." I won it on an auction on Ebay but have not received it yet. It sounds like it should be pretty neat and I'm not sure this movie will ever come out in Region 1. I'll let you know more about it when I receive and check it out for a couple days...
