"Divine Trash" - Documentarey on John Waters early career with behind the scenes footage from his classic "Pink Flamingos". ESSENTIAL for waters fans and fans of cult/nderground cinema full stop.
"Hairspray" an upgrade from my old VHS of this, the last great Waters film. A risky venture bu7t the PG rating meant he knew (at least he did then! Dross like "Cecil B Demented" shows he forgot!)) that you can't manufacture real 'Trash Cinema' with professsional actors, ego celebs and Hollywood suits in the wings. This was a miracle. An unexplicit film that still managed to deliver all the elements his fans expected without trying to recreate content that he no lponger could in the mainstream. And the fact the great Divine (in easily one of his best and most magical performances) was still with us...so REAL, PURE Trash sensibilities could naturally exist within the film. Great stuff. johhny Knoxville can is not fit to lick Divine's arse!
"Freaks" - outstanding DVD presentation of a wonderful film that captutes that alternative movie/grindhouse vide within the Hollywood set-up. The Extras are great, with the documentary being a major highlight.#nosmileys

Just ordered Chris Rock: Never Scared
I would own Bigger and Blacker, but I've seen it enough times to know all the jokes. Chris Rock is a freakin' genius!

I agree, really good DVD with cool extras for such an old movie.

Yup, he sure is, and if you don't yet have it, I highly recommend BRING THE PAIN, which was the earliest of these three stand-up performances and, I think, the best.

I just received my copy of the Passion from DeepDiscount.
I'd usually complain about the lack of special features (namely, none), but when you're looking at a movie this powerful, special features don't seem to matter.
Having seen the movie 4 times now, I can honestly say that it never loses its power. It never fails to bring me to tears, and I am someone who doesn't even belong to an organized religion (although I do believe in Christ). This is powerful stuff, and I for one will be angry if the Academy doesn't acknowledge this.

Super cheap DDDHouse treats:
"Treasure Hunt" - Not seen this Chow flick, but heard mixed things. One of the last, generally weak, HK films he made before he foolishly let America crap on his career...just like too many of the HK greats.
"Golden Swallow" - Chang Cheh/Wang Yu 'Swordplay' classic on the new, ever wonderful 'Shaw Bros' DVD collection.
"Nightmare" - Korean slasher/supernatural flick. Meant to be solid fare with some good gory kills. Ultra cheap price and with DTS.

Quantum Leap: Season 1.
It only has 9 episodes, but I was so desperate to see any Quantum Leap again that I can't complain. I heard Season 2 is coming out later in the Fall.

I put my husband on DVD buying hiatus until after his birthday bash this weekend. His actual birthday was yesterday so I gave him my presents already (he he). One of his presents was not a DVD, but a juicy Best Buy gift card that he could pick out his own, namely this trilogy box set that's coming out in two weeks. I'm sure you guys know the one I speak of. I'm sure once his bash is over this Saturday, the DVD's will be flying off the shelves! Sunday, bloody Sunday!
