Picked up today PREDATOR Special Edition. Complete w/ free pass to ALIEN VS. PREDATOR.
The wife got "HIGHLANDER: SEASON 5"
Smitty, if you're gonna buy used DVDs, I would recommend investing in a Skip Doctor. You can almost bet that any used DVDs that you buy from Blockbuster, etc. have been used as drink coasters & frisbees before being returned to the store. I buy used DVDs from time to time and the discs themselves almost always look like crap, so most times before I even try playing it in my player, I give them a good cleaning in my Skip Doctor. Works wonders and I haven't had to return another used DVD since I started using it. Also works on video game discs and CDs.

Well, I was able to exchange my Moulin Rouge for another Moulin Rouge, this one in its original casing and with less scratches!

I bought the motorized skip doctor, I can't comment on others but AVOID the powered one AT ALL COSTS!!!!! I have totaled a couple of dvds using it. The damn thing creates scratch marks, it doesn't get rid of any. I also tried it out on a blank cd, I purposely gave the disc a few scratches (little nicks, nothing severe) used the skip doc & what do ya know, it added countless scratches to the cd. First remedy for any issues for any disc is cold water, simple, very effective.

Alas, I turned in my beloved Moulin Rouge for another copy of Moulin Rouge... in its original casing, no less! And it works, too. It kinda skipped in a couple parts, but a dry towel was enough to fix that.
I take back what I said about used DVDs, the one I had was incidentally a fluke. The clerk at GameStop was shocked when she saw the back of the DVD, saying, "how did we miss that?"
Still, be sure to check your used DVD right away. You'll never know what these wacky people will miss.
On another note, I ordered Who Framed Roger Rabbit on DVD. Looking forward to owning that one.

Here's the one; www.skipdoctor.com/skipdr/SkipDR_motorized.htmlThe thing has a loud irrating sound also. Take a look at a disc you have used it on before while holding it up to the light & tell me if you don't see any scratches? If you look at the disc dead on, you shouldn't see any scratches, true. (It says that in the instruction booklet) however tilt the disc in the light & now tell me if you can't see any? I know when you use it, your supposed to spray water on the disc surface, but man the buffer seems to be made out of sandpaper, kidding. You might/must be right Heineken about mine being defective: After I had put a disc into the round plastic holder, the round plastic holder would rotate & not the disc unless I moved it myself.

Yeah, mine moves on its own. Make sure both the DVD & the plastic disc are in there securely before starting it up.

Pretty good film "Flavia"..some good images.
"The Eagle Has Landed" soceial extended addition.
"Phoenix Nights 1 & 2" - Brit comedy does not come much funnier!!!
"The Wicker Man" - Extended cut Special Edition to replace my old TV dupe tapes. Question: Why only do a 5:1 mix on the Theatrical Cut???? Any real fan of this film does not give to flying shits for the Theatrical Cut, so why go to the bother of doing the new sound on that version and not the exteneded cut which is the reason we buy the DVD in the first place!! madness! Madness i tell yer!
"The Magic Blade" - 'Shaw Bros' swordplay action with Ti Lung on a great DVD.
But boy, 'Shaw's' are releasing some bad looking films! "Hong Kong Playboys"?! "Till the End of Time"? OOOOOH! these look dreadful!.

Madness i tell yer! Well, I must admit that I watch the theatrical cut pretty often - and it's mainly because in the longer version the poor quality of the lost-and-found footage kind of distracts me. I'm surprised you have just bought it now, 42nd! I know how much you like this film so I thought you have the DVD since day one.

Today I picked up the only "new" release that really matters:
GOODFELLAS: Special Edition
Also picked up these older releases:
AKIRA: Signature Series DELIVERANCE FREAKS MIDNIGHT RUN WHAT LIES BENEATH
MIDNIGHT RUN & WHAT LIES BENEATH were part of this week's Best Buy "2 for $15" Special. So $7.50 apiece isn't a bad deal at all.
