Some great films mentioned. How about {and I'll try for a mix of the obvious and the less obvious}
Opera-Argento at his best, nasty, suspenseful and with one of the most diverse soundtracks ever ranging from opera to ambient to heavy metal!
Ring {Ringu}-forget the US remake, for slow burning, chilling horror the original is the one to see.
Dressed To Kill-this might be treason, and I LOVE Hitchcock, but this partial remake of Psycho is possibly even better. A brilliant exercise in audience manipulation.
The Devil Rides Out-there must be a Hammer, and this one is still thrilling despite some dated effects
The Prowler-there must be a slasher flick in the list, and this one has a fair bit of suspense and some VERY gory murder scenes
Burial Ground AKA Nights of Terror AKA Zombie 3-wonderfully trashy Italian zombie movie with tons of gore
The Innocents-black and white, but a real scary old school ghost story, easily the best version of Turn of the Screw
Lisa and the Devil-a surreal but oddly beautiful and poetic mind fuck from the great Mario Bava
Martin-Romero's most personal and disturbing film, and there has to be a vampire movie in the list as well!
Waxworks-with some interesting versions of some of the classic monsters, this cheesy 80s campfest had both gore and laughs and would be a great way to finish off!

De Palma may be ripping off Hitchcock a lot but he does it with style! I, too, feel this is more powerful than Hitch's own films. Nice choices, Doc - and it all reminds to finally watch Burial Ground which I bought several months ago.

One of my favorite designs for zombies ever, passing even several of Fulci's films in design, but be prepared for a big laugh riot, because it's so cheesy. Cheesy good, but still cheesy.

Yes, I expect to have some laughs there. Will tell you soon what I thought of it overall.

Dammit, I had big plans to rent a bunch of the movies you guys recommended and then I find that the two ro three closest Mr. Movies locations are gone! Mr. Movies always has better older films than Blockbuster! Fuck! This is most upsetting!

Ahh, the old days on The Board when the swear words filter was yet working and changing all the "fucks" into "I disagree's" and even "dicks" into "thingies" (you couldn't spell Philip K. Dick's name!). We had to kill the filter 'cause Smitty was quoting Kevin Smith a lot and no one could understand the quotes after the filter changes. ;D

I did manage to see a gore-ish film for my Halloween time, but I don't believe anyone suggested it: Undead. I put up a review for it.

Last night we watched the suprisingly gore-filled 'Warlock.' I'd never seen it but it was surprisingly funny and well written! Great for Halloween.

Yup, the first Warlock film was pretty good. Wait... I think I liked the first sequel, too, Warlock: Armageddon, was it? More cheesy than the original but still fun.
Today I hope to watch:
- Incident On And Off A Mountain Road (Masters Of Horror's long awaited episode #1!) - They Nest (from the beloved director of Eight Legged Freaks) - Psycho III (never saw this one before - and I think Psycho II is great)

"Psycho II" is, in my opinion, better than the original. Great mood, cast and performances, not to mention some of the murder sequences...KILLER!!! "Psycho III" was OK.

That's exactly what I think of Psycho II, frankenjohn, but shhhhh - we shouldn't talk loud about liking some sequel over Hitchcock's all time classic, we'd sound unprofessional. Psycho III is okay, yes.

Don't worry, Bart. I got something that would almost destroy my horror credibility:
I taped the original Psycho off TV three years ago...and haven't seen it at all. I know what tape it is on, I just can't bring myself to invest the two hours to watch it.

Thank god the brain is still hanging here somewhat attached... I had to reposition my eyeballs to look at the computer screen after wiping gore off....
