Which kind of slasher villains are you more afraid of:
The Jason Vorhees/Chucky type, of using whatever they find around them to kill their victims,
or the Michael Myers/Leatherface type, those who use one main tool for roughly 80% of their killings?

I'd have to say the Freddy Krueger type that only kills sleeping victims!
Otherwise, it's the "use whatever I have on hand" killers. Because you know they're determined to get the job done, no matter what.

I'd have to agree with Q.....the ones who can make ANYTHING into a weapon. Cause you know that deep down there's some intelligence there and there's nothing worse than an intelligent psycho.

Frankly, I wouldn't want any of those slasher maniacs after me. They survive sequel after sequel, so really, what does it matter what they use to kill people? Lots of killers have used knives, machetes, chainsaws, etc., but I don't think there's any slasher weapon more iconic than Freddy's glove.

I think I'm most frightened by the chainsaw. Although cumbersome, it is loud and it seems like it could chop my head off very easily.
Leatherface is one scary dude!

My opinion: Leatherface and Michael Myers are scarier but Freddy and Chucky are more entertaining.

I would agree with that. Jason is pretty scary,at least in the early films, but he remains pretty one dimensional. That suits the films, and makes him more effective, but he's perhaps less fun. I always found the slasher villain in The Prowler {crazy G.I.} quite effective visually, and that Scream mask is quite scary,I just didn't really like the Scream films that much.

That I'm actually afraid of, very few, because they are mostly people (or creatures) you aren't likely to find in real life (dreams are an entirely different matter). Usually I find killers like the one in Haute Tension ( before the big twist, that is) to be much creepier, as they actually look and act like real-life serial killers. That said, I much prefer those who use different kinds of weapons. Because, as others have pointed out, that means they'll get the job done, one way or another. Out-and-out supernatural killers like Freddy Krueger and The Creeper (from Jeepers Creepers) may well be a third cathegory, as these are the ones you really can't escape, even if you play by their rules.

I like Chainsaw maniacs like Phoenix like one from TCM and Freddie Kruger. But am I scared by them? Nope. Man from Guinea Pig 2 was pretty scary.

But am I scared by them? Nope. Man from Guinea Pig 2 was pretty scary. Good example, this is another one who did scare me at times because he looked so much like a real-life deranged person (either that, or the actor who played him is just monumentally ugly --Sorry, but in this case it's a fact).
