Hey you, Yuzna fans out there: have you seen the man's latest? The one about a dog with a steel skeleton? What did you think then? Must've been good at least?
This is the film I'm preparing to watch in a minute. Will get back here afterwards. Yuzna rocks!

Before watching this I thought it would be * * * easily. Perhaps * * * 1/2 or even a full * * * *. Can't give away goddamn stars like that, though - even if this is the maestro of the cheapo horror we talk about.
Rottweiler is * * - and that's cause I like the guy. It has some good gore and you may like the plot for being unpredictable, but here are Rottweiler's sins I just can't forgive easily:
- the main actor is annoying; why not choose the dude who played Sawyer in Lost instead - similar in looks, so much richer in charisma, - as much as I like stream-of-consciousness plots there's got to be some grand surprise/pay-off at the end; no such thing here, though Yuzna perhaps thinks that he went all Memento on us (what with the flashbacks coming together throughout the film), - poor balance of nudity (read: more of it male than female), - this pisses me most: a killer rottweiler with iron jaws, right? And when he jumps on a naked man he hardly hurts him! Why make him jump then? And on a naked man? You expect flying penises and then nothing!

I almost rented this over the weekend, but grabbed el-cheapo Blood Gnome instead. That movie was ridiculous (anyone who hasn't can see my review in Review Hell) but watchable.

Blood Gnome sounds fun, but I guess it's more or less the Rottweiler-quality fun. I'll try to get it, of course.

Finally caught this one this weekend (was going for the world premiere a few weeks ago, but fucked up the timing on the tape nad only got the first half) but overall, I still call this a disappointment. I'll give some of my grievances against it:
Naschy is such a great actor, why was he in this? Anyone could've played his role and been just as chillling as he was. Never should've been promoted in the film. The plot goes all over with no real place to go. The final shock isn't all that spectacular. The dog is seen to early to really get terrifyied of him. He shouldn't have been involved in the sequence in the desert where he gets shot. Take him out there, you've still got the opening shadowy attack then another thirty minutes before he chews through that one guys neck. That would've made it a little more thrilling.
I still thought it had some good stuff in it (the gore made up for it's other problems) but still have to give it a ##.
