Is there a haunted house movie that creeped you out so much that you wouldn't spend even a minute in it? Tell me what that is.

I chose 'other:' Poltergeist is my #1 haunted house film.

Definately the Amityville house....something about the house & the movie that just creeps me out.

I forgot to give my vote: I voted for The Haunting. Nothing is seen, yet is creepier than the modern day haunted house films.

I'd pretty much love to stay in all those haunted houses, I'd actually love to BUY a supposedly "haunted" house at some point--I bet that'd be fun.
But I voted for the 2001 13 Ghosts, sure there's that hot naked ghost chick, but other than that? What a stupid house.
And what a crappy movie.

House.
Hilarious. At one point was the scariest movie I'd ever saw.

I'll also have to choose The House: not as creepy as the Amityville house (especially in the first sequel!), but it gets the points for being a better movie. In my oipinion.

The original Haunting, definately,as already mentioned ,it's what you don'yt see that makes it so effective. Other ones I found scary were The Innocents {the first and best version of Turn Of The Shrew} The Others The Grudge {both versions,do they count?} Dark Water {original version.well,it's a haunted apartment block!} Haunted

I went with Other, for, um, THE OTHERS. That movie just dripped with atmosphere and relied on very few visual f/x. Mostly just sound effects and some fog. On the other end of the spectrum we have the remake of THE HAUNTING which was just ass. I've never seen THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. Only a couple of bits and pieces of the original and none of the remake. POLTERGEIST is a good movie, not neccesarily really scary, but it's well made and acted and it definitely has it's moments. Particularly the scene where the guy is looking into the mirror and starts scratching at a scab on his face (or something like that, it's been years) and ends up tearing his entire face off. Or at least he thinks he does. Still waiting on a special edition DVD of that one.
