Thanks to all the members who voted in the poll we have chosen our Top Ten Scary Scenes in the history of cinema - it's all finally counted and ready to be announced!
Is the final list controversial? You bet it is! But we are starting with the runners up - your task is to first guess the title, then try to guess the particular scene, too, and finally tell us how pissed/delighted you are that it made it to our list. Let's go now!

THE WINNERS#1 TITLE: Alien (1979) SCENE: Ayy, doesn't it Hurt! - the chestburster is out. Astronaut Kane (John Hurt) has just recovered from a (very) close encounter with a hand-shaped alien. He's enjoying dinner with the rest of the crew aboard Nostromo when suddenly he's assaulted with the mother of all stomachaches -- as a baby alien bursts forth from his torso!

#2 TITLE: Carrie (1976) SCENE: There goes the hand! The sole survivor of a teenage massacre, Sue Snell (Amy Irving) visits the grave of ill-fated Carrie White (Sissy Spacek). Just as she's calmly leaving flowers on the grave, Carrie's hand emerges from the ground and grabs her wrist...

Annie Wilkes (Kathe Bates), "number one fan" of writer Paul Sheldon (James Caan) has decided that, due to his recent behavior, she must do something to prevent further escape attempts. Thus she puts the skills she has learned in diamond mines to good use -- breaking Paul's legs with a sledgehammer!

Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss) is trying to escape the inhospit woods. But forces of evil are at large tonight. Someting she all too suddenly discovers as she's violently attacked and raped by the trees outside...

Once sweet-natured Reagan (Linda Blair) comes down the stairs, her body twisted like a spider's --yet another unmistakable sign of being possessed by the devil. Strangely enough, this very popular scene from The Exorcist is rarely seen in theaters, as it was reportedly ommited from the original cut for being too scary...TIE! #9 TITLE: Frailty (2001) SCENE: The axe goes up for the first time! Young Fenton (Matthew O'Leary) doesn´t want to believe that his father (Bill Paxton) has gone insane. And is coming to believe it --until the night Father brings home a gagged and bound woman and proceeds to chop her up with an axe in front of his children...

#10 TITLE: The Fly (1986) SCENE: The mutation reaches odd levels! Doomed scientist Seth (Jeff Goldblum) has just kidnapped his own girlfriend Veronica (Geena Davis) and brought her to his lair, where he plans for the two of them (plus their unborn child) to go trough the telepods in order to become one big mutated family... She refuses, only to watch in horror as the last remnants of Seth's humanity are literally shed away and he becomes a full-scale human fly.
