Where in MN do you live? Not that I'm trying to be nosy, but my brother and the kids live in Lakeville, which I guess is close to Minneapolis. A suburb I guess it is...I haven't been up there yet, so I'm not really sure.

I live in Plymouth--north-western edge of the Twin Cities. I'm actually not sure where Lakeville is in relation to me...
But there's always Mapquest....
And with the magic of the internet, I now know where Lakeville is! It's pretty far south of me, closer to Apple Valley where I have friends.
When you visit your brother, avoid deep summer and deep winter--summers here are blindingly hot and humid and the winters are frightfully the opposite. I think the record cold came with a -70 F windchill, the governor cancelled school state-wide that day. Back in the 90's. And no, it was Jesse "Da Body."

My brother's girlfriend lived in Apple Valley until she moved to Lakeville when he & the kids went up there. -70?? Holy geez! I'll be sure not to go up there in the winter. I'm too used to this Southern heat...I'd be a popsicle in no time.

From Movie Hole:
When news surfaced last year that Hollyweird was all set to remake the un-remakeable “Evil Dead”, we all skipped a beat, right?
Why? Well, lets admit it; Sam Raimi’s breakthrough flick was good because, well, it, um, wasn’t. You get me? It was it’s no-frills qualities that made/makes it so bloody enjoyable, and goddamn hilarious. Had it have been a $150 million dollar Dimension-esque effort, all the fun would’ve been sucked out, wouldn’t it? Which begs the question, why now? It doesn’t need a polish. It’s like putting a gun through a washing machine – cleaning it up is senseless.
Bruce Campbell had some good news this week, though. The star of the three “Evil Dead” ‘classics’ says the remake it still coming – groan - only the legendary character of ‘Ash’, the chainsaw-wielding hero he played in the films, will no longer be in the new version. If anything, this will be a film set in the same world, but with totally new films. Originally, rumour had it that a new, younger actor would be bought in to take over from Campbell as the iconic character.
Talking to Penny Blood Magazine, the Chin said, “It'll be a whole new story. It won't be with Ash. It'll be the evil book, and it'll affect a whole new group of people in a different situation. More like a reinvention. A lot of people, they got really crabby on the Internet when they first heard that type of stuff. But, we would never do anything to insult them. The trick is to take that premise - and we think it's a scary premise - and use some cool modern day FX… so we won't have green garden hoses in the shots. We wanna make a flat out, scary-ass, un-rated horror film.”"
But dude, you don’t understand…..we want the garden hoses in the shots! Don’t we?

I still don't want it remade.
That's like remaking Casalblanca to me. It cannot be improved upon.

Totally pointless remake, this. If they want to make an expensive, no-holds-barred horror film with different characters, why stick with the classic title? Crazy!

I think only crappy or overly outdated movies should be remade.
Like Logan's Run. A new version of that probably wouldn't hurt.
A new version of the Creature From the Black Lagoon or Evil Dead or something else that is a bonifide classic? RETARDED.
