As a major fan of horror films, I want to know what you people think of the films that the Sci-Fi channel airs on Saturdays? I have several films from there on my all-time favorites list, and because they keep making them, I know others must enjoy them as well. What are yours?

The last one I remember watching on SciFi was that new one w/ Bruce Campbell...I can't even remember the name of it now. But it was sci-fi instead of horror...so I don't know if that counts. I really don't watch the SciFi channel as much as I used to...but I have to share the tv w/ two other people so I usually don't get much of a choice in what we watch.

My father in law loves creature features, so whenever we're over there for a weekend there is always a Boa vs. Python movie on.... I have to admit if I'm bored I'll put them on. Slayrrr...what are your favorites?

Yeah! That was it. It was so bad I couldn't even remember the name. I just remembered Bruce. ;D

Haven't seen 'em.
Actually, I thought this thread was about Stan Winston's "Creature Features," which are generally disappointing movies--great make-up and effects of course, but poor overall quality films--all of 'em remakes of ye olde horror films from the 50's or 60s.

Well, Phoenix, if you must know, here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:
Frankenfish: I thought this was a great film. it was very entertaining, the story seemed original at first glance, and the gore! Wow, I was really impressed with that. The beautiful photography was also a nice touch (you don't see too many films about that part of the U.S.)
Dinocroc: I have a small preference for Dino films, so this one seemed right up my alley. The design looked terrifying, it had a great revival scene, and it got rid of the annoying kid.
Snakehead Terror: Killer fish tales are always ripe targets for some great shock scenes, and this one provided some good ones. A realistic storyline, a few good suspense/stalking scenes, and some more decent gore effects always makes this one re-watchable.
Chupacabra: Dark Seas: I would probably place this one as the all-time favorite from Sci-Fi. It has a great setting, a real-life monster (?) some of the best gore, a good scare, and one of my favorite actors, John Rhys-Davies. Place this in a good setting with a ferocious creature, and this is a winner.
And lastly...
Attack of the Sabretooth: This is a new one, but I really like it. It has some good characterizations, a great setting and a believable scenario for letting the creatures on the loose. Plus, the ever-present Sci-Fi gore is present.

I watched Attack of the Sabretooth last night actually! There was much more blood than I thought there would be and the story actually made sense. It was probably my favorite 'creature feature' AKA 'original Sci-Fi presentation' so far!
I also had seen frankenfish on your list and it was pretty silly but something good for the background.
I had missed the Chupacabra one though - if ever it's on I will watch on your recommendation.
I'm assuming there are a lot of people that watch these because they keep making them! lol.

I just heard the great news (from Fangoria):
The Sci Fi Channel reports that Mark L. Lester’s PTERODACTYL became the highest-rated original movie in the network’s history when it aired last Saturday at 9 p.m. It was also the number-one non-sports program on basic cable for the evening, and scored the highest ratings for any movie—original or acquired—on Sci Fi in the decade since RETURN OF THE JEDI aired in 1995.
I think that is great news, and should do one of two things: 1. Force them to make dino-related creature features, or 2. Open the floodgates for lots more of these kinds of films. I really like these. They are just an hour and a half of entertainment that is just escapist. There's no real danger in watching them, and some kind of grow on you.

We had that one on in the background, it was pretty silly but it actually showed more dinos than i thought it would. I bet 'Man with a Screaming Brain' will fair even better this weekend.

Anyone have any hopes for the TWO new films debuting tonight: Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis and Return of the Living Dead: Rave from the Grave? I've waited for these sequels for a long time.

I think they may be great - I like the director, so that's first good thing (a fan of Eight Legged Freaks, me).
Who saw these Returns then?

Skipped 'em. I have this problem where I can't watch edited films on regular TV. I can't stand edited out dialogue, nudity, violence, gore, etc...
Nor the full-screen format.
Ruins the film for me, it does, that damn censored Network/Cable TV movie...

They were bloodier than I thought they would be, Q. I've got some reviews of them coming up soon for Review Hell, so give me a few days to make sure I've got the movies right, plus I've got Dead and Buried to watch, so that may mean they'll be here later in the week.
Phoenix, did you ever catch Chupacabra: Dark Seas? You never said if you liked it or not.
Next week, the new premiere: Cereberus. Wondering if they'll use the legend or how much of it.

Phoenix, did you ever catch Chupacabra: Dark Seas? You never said if you liked it or not. . I did. I can't say I'm a smarter person for watching it but it was something fun to have on in the background. I would say 'above average sci-fi creature feature.'
