An adaptation of the hit video game has Alice in an asylum because of her Wonderland story. She gets another chance to go back into Wonderland. The film has been picked up by Wes Craven.

This could be interesting. I've never played the game, but I saw the action figures and they were pretty damn cool looking. This project reminds of that WIZARD OF OZ sequel that came out in the 80's, RETURN TO OZ starring Fairuza Balk as Dorothy. Remember that one? It was a much darker take on the characters, truer to the books from what I've heard.

The computer game was the most twisted video game I had ever played. Alice's parents are killed in a fire, and Alice is sent to an asylum. She returns to wonderland, and everything has changed. The Cheshire cat is skinned and has an extremely sinister look, slavery has become rampant, what was once a beautiful land of imagination has become Dante's Inferno, and Alice's new objective is to kill the Queen of Hearts.
A movie would be nice if it's done right. I've read a rumor about this a couple years ago, where Natalie Portman was considered for the part of Alice. While that would be nice, I don't think they're on that anymore.

I agree with you Smitty - that game is WILD. Very dark. Hope they can recapture the same feel of it for a movie. Are they evening filming it yet though?
