The OT (Original Trilogy) is coming to DVD on September 21st this year and will include plenty of extras on the Bous disc. DVD & Bonus Disc details: starwars.com/episode-iv/news/2004/04/news20040420.htmlTake the poll below to let us know what you think of the OT DVDs! Just cut and paste the poll, but add your own answers. Just type this **** next to your choice for each question. And feel free to add any comments at the end of the poll. ____________________________________________________ What do you think of the Box art? (Choose only one) 1. It Looks awesome! **** 2. Average 3. Crappy, I could have done better! Are you buying the DVD box set? (Choose only one) 1. Sure am, can't wait! **** 2. Maybe 3. No, I'm skipping/ waiting for the originals to be released on DVD SE vs Originals? (Choose only one) 1. Special edition which is now the norm **** 2. Original versions Happy about it being the SE version? (Choose only one) 1. Sure am! It blends better with the PT (Prequel Trilogy) 2. Average - happy to see it released but not taking sides **** 3. No, I demand the originals! What do you think of the bonus disc material? (Choose only one) 1. Yes the material looks great! can't wait to watch it! **** 2. Looks average and might be interesting 3. Could be more on it 4. Looks like a major letdown ____________________________________________________ Comments: I would've liked for either this set to include the OT and the SE, or for their to be two seperate releases so fans could have a choice. And it's a little disappointing that each movie doesn't have it's own bonus disc like the DVD releases of Episodes I & II did. But those are quibbles. This is easily my most anticipated DVD release. Ever. ;D

What do you think of the Box art? (Choose only one) 1. It Looks awesome! **** More like 'good' than 'awesome'; I think the covers should stay the same as the old ones.
Are you buying the DVD box set? (Choose only one)
2. Maybe ****
I still haven't bought the Indy box set, you know - and I want it first.
SE vs Originals? (Choose only one) 1. Special edition which is now the norm ****
True - it's the norm and let's stick with it. I have some issues with the SE's - you already know about them - but it doesn't mean I wouldn't like to have'em.
Happy about it being the SE version? (Choose only one)
2. Average - happy to see it released but not taking sides ****
What do you think of the bonus disc material? (Choose only one) 1. Yes the material looks great! can't wait to watch it! ****
Can't wait to watch it, sure. But it could be better if they kidnapped Calista and told Harrison Ford to provide a commentary for all films if he wants to have her released. You know.

Actually, I'm sure one of my brothers will be buying it so I'll get to see it for free. ;D SE vs Originals? (Choose only one) 1. Special edition which is now the norm **** 2. Original versions

Happy about it being the SE version? Its not the last I've read.
What do you think of the bonus disc material? 1. Yes the material looks great! can't wait to watch it! This disc will get spun more than the films themselves, the added material looks that good.

And a list of the changes in the SE versions:
•In Episode IV: A New Hope, the controversial confrontation in the cantina in Mos Eisley has been changed yet again. The villainous Greedo now fires shots at Han Solo (Harrison Ford) at the same time Solo fires back. In the original film, Solo fired first; in 1997, Lucas changed the scene to have Greedo fire first.
•Also in Episode IV, 1997's added computer-generated footage of Jabba the Hutt appears to have been improved, with more fluid motion.
•In Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, the hologram image of the Emperor has been altered to feature Ian McDiarmid, the actor who played the Emperor in Return of the Jedi and appears in all three prequel films. The scene's dialogue has also changed to clarify the progression of Luke Skywalker’s training as a Jedi, as well as to acknowledge the relationship between Luke and Vader. In the original release of Empire, the Emperor's image was played by an unbilled old woman wearing prosthetic makeup, with chimpanzee eyes superimposed in post-production into darkened eye sockets, the official Star Wars Web site reported. The original voice was provided by Clive Revill.
•In Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker is added as a ghostly image in the final scenes of the film, alongside Yoda and Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan Kenobi. But Sebastian Shaw remains as the face of Darth Vader/Anakin in the scene in which Luke removes Vader's helmet, and not Christensen, as had been rumored.

I just received the Box Set.
The only thing I can say in defense of the changes made by Lucas, they didn't ruin the movie... They were also completely unnecessary.
...from what I've seen in Episode IV, anyway...
The CGI looks good, but when you know what it USED to look like, it just doesn't feel too comfortable.
But what do I know, I've only seen the Special Editions.

I'm torn as to whether to buy them..... I feel like I should wait, that Lucas is truly going to be evil and bring out another set even though he claims now he is not going to. I'll probably cave...Comp USA has it for 40 bucks and I just can't pass up on it. I feel like my DVD collection will not be complete without that set! All the comments I read haven't been too negative. But I'll be so MAD if another set comes out though.

If you mean a set with the original versions before Lucas decided to update them, I'd say, probably not. He seems pretty adamant that as far as he's concerned, these versions are the only versions he's going to release. So, you're pretty safe there. If you mean, rereleasing these versions again, I'd bet that there will be a super box set in the future with all six movies, Episodes I - VI and even more bonus features. For instance, there are no deleted scenes included with this set and there are definitely some out there. Most series of movies have been released in box sets, ie: ALIEN, ROCKY, PLANET OF THE APES, NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST., etc. So there's no reason to believe that it won't happen with STAR WARS. Also remember, 2007 will be the 30th anniversary of the release of the original movie. That's only 3 years away and would be the perfect time to do something like that. Personally, there was no way I was going to "wait and see" what happens. $40 - $50 is not a lot to pay for a set of three digitally remastered classic movies plus a bonus disc that's loaded with extras. Most Special Edition movies that are released are $15 - $20 apiece. That would equal $45 - $60 for these three individually. I think it's well worth it. You can always decide, if and when, another set is released a few years from now, if the new extras are worth upgrading for.

Yeah, I think its safe to buy them on dvd now. The 30th Anniversary Edition will likely hit the HD-DvD Players only to push the sales of the players. Once Episode III is released onto dvd, I hope they give away a free box to hold them all in.

I heard from Rotten Tomatoes that Lucas is talking VII, VIII, and IX.

I heard from Rotten Tomatoes that Lucas is talking VII, VIII, and IX. In Entertainment Weekly last week, Lucas directly says in his interview that he will NOT be doing the next 3. He may option the rights out for some television stuff, but no more SW movies.

I watched almost all of the Empire Strikes Back w/the commentary last night and it looked great. I was so happy I bought them. Def worth my $$$.
