Has this movie been looked over. This has some great scenes of terror.
I was very upset that I didn't see it in the theaters. I missed it by a week. I finally did see it on VHS a few years ago, and it confirmed how stupid I was not to see this excellent film on the big screen.
Still upset about it to this date when I think about it. It probably would have ranked high in my lists of horror.
Mimic II, yuck.

True - it's a good film. I was lucky to see it in a theatre. Part 2 is terrible, that's true as well, but I heard 3 is an improvement. Don't feel like going out and renting it, though.

I thought it was pretty good. It's been awhile since I watched it though. Haven't seen II...sounds like I'm not missing much though.

I, too, liked Mimic quite a lot. Not Del Toro's best (that'd be "The devil's backbone" for sure), but a great creature feature.
The insects were impressive. My favorite scene is when the heroine is abducted in the subway tunnels. A generous amount of gore too.
Mimic II was... basically a B-movie, not particularly interesting. But III was pretty intriguing, actually.

Once again, I just gotta be different: I hated Mimic. Sure, the special effects were cool and all... But come on! There's a gigantic explosion underground, encompassing the entire sewer system and old subway--and yet, the main heroes and that obnoxious little kid survive?! Oh hell no! Too much of a "Dizz-Nee" ending for my tastes.
Saw it in the theater with two of my friends, one of my friends wanted to walk out before the end--the other two of us didn't like the movie either, but we paid good money, and we were staying until the credits!
Sorry everyone, I totally hated Mimic. The year it was released was, I believe, the same year as the far superior Event Horizon--which, ironically, is just about Paul Anderson's only good movie.

Gotta see number III, now that it was mentioned on here.

Gotta see number III, now that it was mentioned on here. I's just been out recently, hasn't it? If you watch it, do tell us if it really is so much better than the first sequel.

Saw the third enstallment. Ahh, so so. Didn't like the perspective it was shot from, it got kind of irrating for me at times. But I guess there must of been a strict budget to work with. The acting was good and bad. I guess sometimes things should be left at stage one and try not to expand to two and three.
