Who said Lorenzo Lamas ain't around these days? Or Steven Bauer, for that matter... From Creature Corner: Lorenzo Lamas vs. a velociraptor, who wins? That question which has haunted mankind for eons will finally be answered this Saturday, Aug. 21, at 9PM ET/PT on the Sci-Fi Channel when the serial divorcee, former "Renegade" star, and "Am I Hot?" judge does battle with vicious velociraptors in aptly titled Raptor Island. Joining him for no particular reason other than that the check cleared will be Steven "C. Thomas Howell actually gets more work than me?" Bauer.
“RAPTOR ISLAND is a non-stop adventure with wall-to-wall action, as a team of Navy SEALS, led by Lorenzo Lamas, pursue an international terrorist/arms smuggler, played by Steven Bauer, and his men to a volcanic atoll in the South China Sea, where everyone is soon on the run from prehistoric monsters and a volcano that threatens to blow the island to bits!”
Despite being set on "a volcanic atoll in the South China Sea", the film was shot on location in the most non-tropical location of Bulgaria, where all Sci-Fi Channel original movies are seemingly filmed. Most shocking of all, neither Roger "Carnosaur” Corman or Nu Image or UFO Films had anything to do with this production. Hard to believe, huh? Whether or not that will make any difference in terms of actual quality remains to be seen.

LDG digs Harley-riding bad boys. ;D This movie sounds like a heaping serving of cheese with a side of cheese and a tall glass of melted cheese to wash it all down. I'll pass. Too much cheese binds me up.

This movie sounds like a heaping serving of cheese with a side of cheese and a tall glass of melted cheese to wash it all down. That's where its charm is, my friend!

I liked it, really fun and cheesy. Just the usual problems associated with these films: utterly lame and atrocious CGI, cliched action and no real sense of realism. No big deal, though, as there's a lot of action and a pretty nifty body count so it all makes up for it.
