(Maybe a bit late for this topic, but since I didn't find it anywhere else on the board...)
So Lost finally ended after six seasons. For those who followed it all the way through, what did you think of the end and of the series overall? Loved it, liked the show but hated the ending, never cared for it...?

I'm among those few who saw only beginning episodes of the first season. They were great anyway. In some moment I lost track after those initial ones, didn't want to loose the momentum what happened later looking at more recent eps and as a result I haven't resumed watching So six seasons wait for me. I'll be loooost for sure

I liked the first season a lot, but thought they were stretching the exciting original premise a bit too far in the later seasons. I only watched six episodes from the last season and gave up - it became too annoying for my taste. I just thought that the characters I loved when the series started morphed into somebody else entirely near the ending - and it felt like a cheat to me. Hell, Locke *literally* changed into somebody else, didn't he?

Like you Bart, I liked the first season too. The second was pretty good for me , but then it just went downhill. By this last season, I felt like I was watching out of obligation rather than fun. The "other world" ending was nice I think, but overall if someone asked me if they should sit and watch all six seasons it would be a no.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels this show lost steam after the first season or so.
I watched the entire thing, but more out of habit and curiosity than anything else, and well...
Yes, the characters were handled badly in later seasons (and yes, Bart what you asked about Locke happens literally. And Supernatural did it better). It kept annoying me that the most interesting characters kept getting killed and those that survived became morose or unlikeable or both things.
I didn't hate the last seasons per se, but... I think when this show started someone in this board (maybe Quorth? I'll have to look it up) said they hoped this show wouldn't be like The X-Files, where they ultimately explained nothing. And well, they did explain a few things, but when all is said and done it's obvious that the writers and producers did not know where they were going with all this.
Oh, well.

UPDATE: Just seen the deleted scenes / extended ending on the DVD set (and presumably Blu-ray as well). With them the ending makes much more sense and seems slightly fairer to some characters, so there's that.
I still say this show could have been much better.

I bowed out of "Lost" when it became apparent to me that I was watching the show simply to see what happened next rather than actually enjoying it. The same thing happened with me and "Heroes," too.
