Has anyone seen it yet? What have you thought?
I absolutely loved the original (Let The Right One In) and was pretty horrified that they were making an American version. After seeing a couple different trailers I was surprised at how good it looked and ended up seeing it.
I was pretty much blown away. Not just that they managed to film a remake that didn't completely suck, but because I felt bad afterward when I realized I think I liked the remake more.
I might write a review, but I was curious about our opinions if any of you have seen it...or the original.

Would love to see your review of it, HerBlackWings!
I saw the first movie and liked it a lot - definitely one of the finest vampire movies in the last decade. Cloverfield didn't impress me all that much, so I am a bit apprehensive about the Cloverfield director helming the remake, but I'm going to see this, sure.

I half-way wrote a review for it for another messageboard. I'll clean it up and add some more detail and post it sometime soon.
I didn't like Cloverfield very much either, so I felt the same way.

Haven't seen the remake.
I loved "Let the right one in", I think it's one of those rare modern vampire movies that actually work... Probably best summed up by a friend who compared it to the Twilight movies: "See, this (Let the right one in) is real teenagers, real vampires, and real teenage vampires!"

P. S. Didn't care for Cloverfield at all, in no small part because of its bland human characters.

I did enjoy the original a lot. I await the DVD release of the remake. I really didn't like the idea of an Americanized version either, I was kind of concerned it was going to be a frame-for-frame copycat just with more gore. This isn't the case??

Not at all, Phoenix. It's got a couple scenes that are exact duplicates, but just because they're REALLY good scenes. But it really doesn't have a lot of gore at all. It's been a while since i've seen the original, but I think compared to the remake there's only one less "kill" scene. And it really wasn't gory, at that.
I've been working on a review but I keep getting sidetracked. It'll happen eventually. haha
