From Horror-Web:
Movie Hole found some interesting news.. Raimi admits that he is interested in doing an EVIL DEAD 4
He isn't really giving anything away but Sam Raimi tells IESB.net, at the "Spider-Man 2" Premiere that he'd be interested in doing both an Evil Dead 4 and a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash - someday.
Says Raimi on the former, "I'd like to make another Evil Dead movie. Right now I don't have any plans to, but it would be a lot of fun".
And on the latter he remarks "That sounds interesting. I'd love to read a script - if one exists".
Raimi's concentrating on getting a "Spider-Man 3" off the ground at the moment so anything else is way down the track I'd say. Pity.

Reel Horror speaks:
It's seems the rumors were true. New Line very much wanted to use the character of Ash (The Evil Dead Series) in thier sequel to Freddy Vs Jason. But those plans have been changed. Read on to see the reason.....
According to MovieHole.com, ‘FestD3’ Evil Dead director Sam Raimi wouldn’t agree to let the character of Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) be used by New Line for the film “Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash” and so it’s provisionally on the back burner while a new script is written.
Meanwhile, New Line and Robert ‘Freddy’ Englund are going to work on a new ‘Nightmare’ reality show, which should temporarily keep the hordes of Elm Street fans entertained.
Personally, I think this is for the best. Putting three big names in one movie will lead to someone getting the short end of the script. Meaning someone is going to be featured much less. I love Ash as much as the next guy but I want to see him as he should be......alone, fighting deadites and throwing out one liners!
Agree with whoever wrote the last paragraph here!

From Moviehole:
At the moment, all you horror fans are no doubt steaming over the news that Sam Raimi has put a stop to "Freddy vs.Jason vs.Ash". But Before you strap on the holster, make sure your bullet belt is full and tighten the bandana around your head, try this on for size : Raimi is still keen to make "Evil Dead 4", and in an interview with IGN FilmForce, says it might be something he'd consider doing after he wraps "Spider-Man 3". Seems all is not lost.
"I would actually love to and one day I hope to. I hope sooner rather than later. I really had a lot of fun with them, and I think the audience may now want to see one. Maybe when I'm done with the Spider-Man movie I can get to work on one", he says.
Raimi also talked a little more about his feelings towards the 'Freddy vs.Jason vs.Ash' project. "Well, I actually really like those, the Freddy movies, and Jason is a classic American horror figure now. I have a lot of respect for those series, and maybe one day they will meet up, but right now what I'd like to do is, well I'd first rather make another Evil Dead picture, and then maybe when we're done with it, if there's an interesting story that really seems like it's not just a device to make money, which I'm not saying it was. I know that they wanted to do something really cool, but I wanted to keep the option open for myself to make another Evil Dead movie without the limitations of what that story may have done. That's really, I think, what it is", he says. "We talked about it, but then the press release came out and I think I would need more control than they would be happy with and I don't want to control some other director. Sean Cunningham's a brilliant director and I actually don't want to be in a position where I'm trying to protect Ash and the Evil Dead story and he's not getting everything he wants. Even though it might have been really great, I bet what he does is gonna be great, it didn't seem like a good position for me to be in. Anyways, they've got so many great possibilities with that franchise and those two characters, I don't think they really need the Evil Dead franchise to be part of it".

RAIMI TALKS 'EVIL DEAD 4'...
Hail to the King!
When news hailed from the trades last month that Sam Raimi had given the go-ahead to an “Evil Dead” remake, we assumed it put a stake, once and for all, through any hopes of an “Evil Dead 4”. Predominatly, one that bought back Bruce Campbell as Ash.
Guess again. Raimi tells Zap2it.com, “Evil Dead 4” is still on the cards, despite the looming redo.
"I definitely want to do it and I think after -- whenever the Spider-Man jobs end -- I would love to dig in on that," Raimi says. "That's something I'm really looking forward to."
According to the website, Raimi won’t be directing the remake of “Evil Dead” (that'll be helmed by, and probably star, someone else other than Campbell), he’s saving his vision for an “Evil Dead 4”, which he'll do after putting Peter Parker to bed.
Geez, just do the movie already & end the suspense! ;D

More Evil Dead fodder for discussion....
From Moviehole:
During "Boogeyman" promotions, Sam Raimi and producer Robert Tapert have talked in-depth about the future of the "Evil Dead" franchise and what's going on in regards to both the sequel, and the remake.
Raimi confirmed to Bloody Disgusting that he will be directing and producing "Evil Dead 4", which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original". Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved.
Talking with Coming Soon, they confirmed the remake is almost certainly not going to be a PG-13 (ala "The Grudge" & "Boogeyman") and due to Bruce's insistence there will be no character called Ash. The aim with it is "Rob and I would try to get a young director with brand new ideas with his own cast and his own take on the thing" says Raimi who confirms that as of right now they're "waiting to find the right director for the project, that thinks he can really bring something new...the goal of this director should be to terrify the audience in a very intense, and merciless way". If they don't find someone, they would "put it on hold. I don't think we'd abandon it, but we won't make it unless we have a really good script and a really great director, somebody we feel is just right for it".
Wouldn't people get confused if the two films came out close to each other? Raimi told LatinoReview - "I think the fans are really smart. I don't think they'd be confused. I'd like to make a part four. There's this very small audience for Evil Dead IV, and if we ever make a movie called Evil Dead IV, which I'd like to make with Rob at some point and starring Bruce Campbell, I'm not saying there's a million people, but there's 100,000 people that will know exactly what it is and that's about as big as the crowd is, honestly. It's not a giant crowd. They're a great crowd". Tapert realized that the sequel might have to be Army of Darkness II, since Universal produced the most recent sequel.
The guys also confirmed they're working on "The Grudge 2 script reusing Sarah Michelle Gellar's character but no word yet either way on whether the actress will return.

It would really be awesome if it continued after AOD. Like, flash forward 12 years, Ash is a husband, daddy, and has a prostetic hand. One day, he gets a phone call that a construction crew found the Necronomicon and tape when they went to demolish the cabin. When he goes there to go and get it (to burn, of course), he finds the dim-witted construction workers let loose the Evil Dead. He therefore has to first stop the dead and then destroy the book and tape.

That would be interesting...but I'd pretty much take any premise as long as Raimi is directing & Mr. Campbell is starring.
