I like this movie. While it does not try to be more than it is, it settles some scores with political correctness and other American middle class values, and it does it with charm. Moreover, it escapes strong overused Christian moral values by using well an Oriental understanding of world. I would see it again. It is dense enough to enjoy it twice. It has many allusions to many "controversial" well known facts of American culture and history, and it is very amusing from beginning to end. This movie is more profound than it seems. It is great that the critics are against it - I enjoy even that. Of course, this movie also is a parody of typical Hollywood cliche productions. What is this movie missing? I have expected it for some time. And it's not too long, either!

I enjoyed the movie as well... The epilogue made me groan, however. Scientifically speaking, that sort of thing would probably cause some major climactic problems with the Earth. Not to mention how pissed off most of the world would be.
But other than that, I thought the writers did a good job coming up with their own superhero mythology. It's just too bad that the premise would really only work for one movie. Any sequel would lose its power, because hey - the character has already changed. It'd be another Superman knock-off. But this one movie worked very well in my opinion. 8/10 for me.

SPOILER ALERT!
You are right about consequences of painting the moon, but that is just a joke. In the '70's, CIA reports to the President: "Mr. President, the Russians are painting the moon red! What should we do?!" "Just write on it 'Coca - Cola'", comes the answer. It is just a joke.
Indeed, the sequel would be difficult to write, because the story of Hancock and his "sister", the big trick of the movie, is now known. However, the tension is there: he is not happy, and he is able!

Well, the trailers were sort of terrible, but I may eventually go see this. Good to know you liked it, guys. No one else saw it yet? Heineken? It's a superhero movie, man!

Well, the trailers were sort of terrible, but I may eventually go see this. Good to know you liked it, guys. No one else saw it yet? Heineken? It's a superhero movie, man! Yup, and I was seeing a different superhero movie last night, HELLBOY II. ;D I actually had a different reaction to the trailers than you did, Bart. I thought they looked pretty great, but other than these two guys, the reviews have been so horrible that it kind of soured me on being interested in seeing it now. My movie-going time is very limited nowadays so it'll be hard to squeeze this one in too when it's no longer a priority. After all, THE DARK KNIGHT will be here next week and for me, that's certainly a priority over HANCOCK.

Yeah, don't prioritize it. Dark Knight should get top priority from everyone.
