I don't know if this warrants a cult classic but it certainly has acquired cult status. Terribly bad, there is nothing well done in this film. The script is a Jaws 3 rehash with cardboard characters that can evoke amusement by the actors that play them. Special effects are horrific, with many of the shots taken from nature programmes. In spite of this, the film is remarkably entertaining and provides much amusement. The acting and dialogue is terrible, but cheesy enough to evoke laughter. It also stars John Barrowman who has become a successful and highly regarded actor in Britain, thanks to his parts in Doctor Who and it's spin off Torchwood, the latter features Barrowman in a lead role. A film that truly has to be seen to be believed, I have showed this to many people who approached it with hesitation. They may not have liked it but it didn't effect the enjoyment. So bad, it has to be good.

I love this movie. Cheesy goodness at it's best, though there's also a personal preference that I just love killer shark films. Those are always fun, and this one might be the best. Cheesy, gory, action-packed and full of really fun moments (the attack on the parasailer, the first confrontation with the shark in the basement, the appearance of the giant shark, which actually made me jump the first time I saw it) and the fact that it uses stock footage for the shark is a pretty nifty idea that works a lot better than the terribly awful CGI it uses elsewhere. Plus, there's the immortal pick-up line as well. It's one of my favorites.

Damn! Haven't seen it!
What about the previous two Shark Attacks, guys? Not as bad as Numero 3?

I can't remember the last time I was actually interested in watching a movie about killer sharks. I think the last one was Jaws 2 that I watched because I was bored.

Bart, the first one's coming on tonight, I'll have a review for it on Monday (which reminds me, with the hiccup I plum forgot last weeks, which I'll get to) so look forward for that. Part 2 should only be watched if you love the Sci-Fi Channel Creature Features they show on Saturdays. It's one of those films.
Q, I love killer shark films. I haven't seen a bad one at all. They've, for the most part, been entertaining cheese-fests, although maybe Jaws 4 would be the last one due to it being so deadly boring, but I've hardly seen a bad cheesy shark film.

I found clips of this in a video list of worst movie scenes ever on YouTube and I have to say--this movie looks like it's one of the worst things ever made. That pick-up line was freakin' hilarious. And wait a minute--it worked?! What!?!
Ridiculous special effects all around.

The ridiculous special effects actually work for me. I don't get that terrible CGI but rather traditional, realistic looking sharks. That makes a world of difference, and I actually jumped during the first appearance of the mother coming out of the water to swallow the lifeboat.
