This will be jumping the gun a bit, but in July, Burn Notice returns to USA. It was a hit summer series last year and the biggest surprise--it was totally awesome. Some might even say... radical?
Honestly though, it ruled and I don't think it got any attention on here.
The show focuses on a former American spy (secret agent type) who has been "burned," in essence, he's been dropped from the government outright and was left stranded in Miami with no money, no help, no answers, no nothing but a couple FBI thugs keeping a constant watch over him. Bruce Campbell plays Sam, a retired spy/operative living in Miami who is friends with the hero, named Michael Weston. A former Irish agent vixen of sorts plays the love interest.
The show moved from episode to episode in an action/adventure format that is sorta like Miami Vice, but with super-spies, witty humor, more drastic danger and a bit more sleaze. For instance, Michael Weston is not afraid to kill or let people be killed. He's a hero that actually takes chances. Each episode had him working to uncover a bit more of they mystery of why he was burned while also following him doing rogue work for other people for cash to get by.
Also, I'm not kidding when I say this--this is probably the best acting Bruce Campbell has ever done. Currently, last seasons episodes have been popping up on USA, oddly on Saturday or Sunday mornings, but I suspect that a box set of the first season is coming out soon to coincide with the new season in July.
I know, I didn't think an original series from the USA Network would be worth a damn, either. To be perfectly honest, I only gave the show a shot because Bruce Campbell was in it--and lo and behold, it turned out to be a clever, fun, well-crafted, well acted show with some excellent characters and surprising writing. I highly recommend that everyone on here look for it. I think LDG and Bart may especially find something to like. If you were a big fan of Miami Vice "back in the day" and are interested in something new like that, look it up. Set yer Tivos!
