George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton may not be the most classic Bond actors, but their movies ain't that bad, really! In fact, I always thought that both Licence To Kill and On Her Majesty's Secret Service are at the very top of The Best Bonds list.
For now I'm not voting for anything: Licence To Kill is already waiting to find its way into my video player and soon I'll tell you if it stood the test of time and beats Service or not.

Well, I'll vote. "ON HER MAJESTY'S..." for me. I've seen these three movies exactly once each, but that one made the biggest impression on me. I remember renting it and thinking, "I'll probably hate it, but I should see it.", just based on it's reputation. Happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Lazenby is not bad at all and doesn't take himself nearly as serious as Dalton, who I found to be a big bore in the role. Too bad he was given such a raw deal by the fans.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is my favorite Bond movie. It comes from the best book as well. As much as I love it, I can't say that Lazenby was all that good. It's tough to follow up Connery, and even tougher to follow up Connery by portraying the character is a completely different way. I give him credit, though. Specifically for his dramatic scenes as Bond. The scene in the barn and the last scene in the movie, Lazenby really impressed me.

I re-watched both On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Licence To Kill. And they still belong to my favourite Bond movies. And it's still a very tough choice between them.
But... well... let's say it's Licence To Kill: a badass villain (Robert Davi), one of the sexiest Bond girls (Carey Lowell), an early role of Benicio Del Toro (so different than today!) and THE most brutal and realistic plot in the Bond history.

Both these guys were sorry Bonds and...eh.
In my opinion, Timothy Dalton was the worst Bond so far. He didn't carry the Bond image at all.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service isn't the worst Bond movie or the best one. But it's still an enjoyable film with plenty of great action and that instrumental theme was second only to the original theme (it was also used in The Incredibles trailer, by the way). Lazenby wasn't as bas as Dalton, but he's no Sean Connery.

I gotta go with Pulp when he says T.Dalton is the worst James Bond. He has no heart, no style. I think he STINKS as an actor. Sorry Bart. Again we disagree on something. So I went with Majesty's Secret Service. I agree it has all the elements you need for a good bond film.

So I went with Majesty's Secret Service. I agree it has all the elements you need for a good bond film. We agree about that, then. And really: I CAN understand people who never accepted Tim Dalton as JB, but myself I'll always like his films in the series (especially Licence To Kill).
