Based on King's short story, of course, and directed by Mick Garris (the one who did 'The Stand' mini-series as well). Here's a link to some photos and news concerning this adaptation: www.liljas-library.com/riding.html

Wow, I hadn't heard about that. I really need to get caught up on my King news. And I haven't even read the short story either yet. Hopefully he'll do as good a job w/ it as he did w/ The Stand!

...I haven't even read the short story either yet. If you have read 'Everything's Eventual' then you have read 'Riding The Bullet' as well - it's near the end and it's about an unfortunate hitchhiker who has to decide whether HE loses his life or a person dear to him. A very good one.

OHhhhhhh yeah, ok, I remember it now. Sorry, I was having a duh moment. Isn't that the one that he released on the internet first? I didn't have the net back then so I don't really remember.

Isn't that the one that he released on the internet first? That's the one. And remembering plots of all King's short stories is near impossible so don't feel too guilty about forgetting 'Riding The Bullet'; happens to me all the time when I hear about 'a new adaptation of Stephen King story' and have no idea I'd already read it.

Yeah, I've read so much King stuff sometimes I can't keep them all straight. Esp. if it's been awhile since I read it.

Mick Garris does an excellent job with King stories, and I liked this one.

I believe Riding The Bullet has just opened in the States. If anyone sees it - please report on its quality here.

Yeah, I think it opened a couple of weeks ago...or last week. I haven't been keeping up.

Guess what? Oh yeah - I saw Riding The Bullet. Aaand?
Shortly: not recommended. It has an interesting enough beginning and several pretty thrilling moments, but when it comes to the essential part - choosing between death or conscience problems - it gets all boring. As much as I like Dave Arquette he's not fit for the part he was given here. 3/10.

Guess I'll catch it on satellite when it comes on so I won't waste any money on it. If I remember correctly it wasn't one of my favorite King stories...

Oh, the story was alright - not King's best but fine. The problem is they spoilt all its goodness here.

I thought it was pretty good. Definitely not as great as it could've been (the story holds promise, but is simply way to spread out in the middle section, forcing some dull moments when the two are yakking at each other rather than building tension in the same scenes) and the final resolution is entirely laughable, but yet I can't say I hated it. Need to see it uncensored which will probably help out a touch as well.
