TNT is currently showing what sounds to be the best King's mini-series yet! Based on various short stories from the author's many collections (not just the one called Nightmares And Dreamscapes), it sports some great names (William Hurt, William H. Macy) and promises 8 films which are going to be, contrary to the usual King-based minis, short, sharp and to the point.
So far I only saw Battleground (it stars William Hurt in a wonderful, weird role and is totally dialogue-free; but the important thing is, it is also one of the best King's adaps I saw). Looking forward to all the other episodes - especially Umney's Last Case and Autopsy Room Four; I wonder how they are going to pull out this latter one!

Yeah, MOSTLY about that ending, sure. But also showing a seemingly dead guy talking to himself for an hour... well, that's not going to be easy.

The one you saw Bart is the only one worth watching so far. Although, according to the previews, TNT "saved the best for last" with the two that will air this wednesday.
A few vary greatly from the original stories I want to add and I think a lot of them feel rushed. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the whole mini-series.
The usual mediocre King stuff.
I'll comment more later after Wednesday.
Also " Umney's Last Case" was very disappointing. They did some stuff to the story that was just plain, YELCH.

I guess I'll have to wait for the dvd's....with the kids being here all summer I didn't get a chance to watch them, or much of anything else. Sounds like I'm not missing too much though?

I've only seen "Umney's Last Case" so far. Macy was great, but the story didn't do much for me. I read the original story maaaaaaannnyyyyy years ago, so I couldn't begin to tell you what was changed. I would love to have seen all of these, but just haven't been around the tv whenever they've aired.

I just saw Battleground. AWESOME!!! At first I wanted Hurt to die but as he furthered his struggle the more I was rooting for him.

Now I just finished The Road Virus Heads North. Good episode. I didn't like the fact that they changed around the story and the camerawork, but Tom Berenger does a good job and it's overall entertaining.

Third one I watched is Autopsy Room Four. Overall, it's a bit on the weak side, and Richard Thomas overacts, but it is an enjoyable, although changed take on the story.

The fourth endeavor into this series for me is Crouch End, which is a real stinker. It had great potential but once Claire Forlani ets out of the taxi cab it gets so weird and stupid.

Funny - I quite liked Crouch End; it IS disappointing, mind you, especially when you see it just after Battleground, but it oozes some good horror atmosphere and Forlani is a pleasure too watch.
Waiting for you to see The Fifth Quarter, frank. In my opinion - having seen 7 out of 8 episodes - it's the best one here so far.

I thought Battleground was passable-good but compared to say, the old Tales from the Crypt, or Masters of Horror, it was very sub-par.

I don't think I'm lenient on the series myself. I agree it's far less thrilling than Masters Of Horror, and some classic episodes of Tales From The Crypt beat it, too, but Battleground and The Fifth Quarter I did like a lot. Here's my rating for the seven episodes I saw so far, just to give a better picture of what I think of Nightmares And Dreamscapes:
1. The Fifth Quarter - 8/10 2. Battleground - 7/10 3. Autopsy Room Four - 6/10 4. Crouch End - 6/10 5. Umney's Last Case - 5/10 6. The End Of The Whole Mess - 5/10 7. The Road Virus Heads North - 4/10
