Probably most of you already know about the upcoming Masters Of Horror thing? If not - please visit mastersofhorror.net/ to find out (trailer also available there). Basically it's going to be a collaboration of some well-known horror auteurs which is supposed to give us an ultimate exercise in terror. The names involved are: Dario Argeto Larry Cohen John Carpenter Don Coscarelli Joe Dante Tobe Hooper Takashi Miike George Romero John Landis Stuart Gordon Mick Garris William Malone Lucky McKee Two questions then: How much are you excited about this? (please vote in the poll) and Which name above excites you the most? I can't wait for all this to see the light of day (or perhaps the dark of the night) and even though I am very excited about seeing Dante and Landis coming back to horror for a short while, it is the name of Larry Cohen that I have greatest hopes for. He can still write gripping stories and I was waiting for so long to finally see him directing a horror again!

I'm at work right now, so I didn't do the link, but are you saying that ALL these people are going to work together on ONE movie or project?
That'd be beyond belief...

Not so, it appears: each of the masters (if you call Mick Garris a master, that is) is going to give us one hour of purest horror.

On Showtime. Whatever this is. I hope to get the films as soon as they appear in divx - no other way for me to get'em, I guess.

I hadn't heard of this! We even had just cancelled our showtime this month. Maybe I'll pick it up in October though for another 'trial' to watch this show (it's going to be 13 1-hour episodes, each directed by the various names on the list).
I'm excited for them all! My vote is obvious..I used to love HBO's 'Tales from the Crypt.'

The L Word is a somewhat entertaining show about lesbians and their relationships with each other. The writing is fairly mediocre as is the acting, but it's decent enough to be entertaining. Some of th girls are actually pretty--but not many. Ozzie Davis appeared on it before he died--ironically playing a dying man. Showtime also has the reality show about the porn producer who's also a doting single father. "Seymour Butts." No shit.

The idea sounds awesome and the trailer is pretty cool! That's a whole lot of talent involved. They couldn't possibly fuck this up, could they?
Unfortunately, I don't have Showtime, just HBO. Maybe I'll subscribe to it just before the series premieres. Afterall, I did the same thing with HBO. Never had it until the Spawn animated series was about to premiere. I wanted to see it, so I subscribed. Decided to keep it, when I realized that HBO was premiering some of the best series on TV. I can always cancel Showtime after the series ends it's run.

I think this could be great. Showtime just seems like an odd place to air this, what with all the other programs that they do. I'm, personally, looking forward to Argento, Carpenter and Romero, but I have three questionable entrees: Malone, Garris and McKee. Garris specializes in crappy Steven King adaptations (the only good one was "The Stand," but it was way too long) I can't remember anything Malone did other than "FeardotCom," which was simply a waste of time, and McKee's claim to fame is "May" and I didn't like that one either. Those three seem like questionable choices to me.
Other than that, I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope to have enough blank tape to hold me over until the DVD(s) comes out. What do you guys think I should do: tape them, then tape over them and buy the DVD(s), or just simply get the DVD(s) when it (they) come out?

Honestly, how many times do you think you'll watch these before the dvds are released? Do you really think you'll watch them when they first air on Showtime, then watch them again on tape, then buy the dvd and watch it yet again, within such a short time span? IMHO, if it turns out you really enjoyed the series, skip the tape and just buy the dvd set.

May was alright, not great, but fairly entertaining--I thought. Now "feardotcom" was a colossial piece of shit. That guy's episode will probably be pretty terrible unless they get the best writer in the world to pen it. Even then...
