From starwars.com "Following the immense success of the first 20 chapters of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Cartoon Network will continue the saga with five new expanded chapters beginning March 21, 2005. Once again helmed by Genndy Tartakovsky, Star Wars: Clone Wars continues where Chapter 20 left off, but in a new format. Whereas previous installments were just three minutes long, each new chapter will be 12 minutes, promising viewers four times the excitement, adventures and intrigue as they lead into the long-awaited finale to the saga, Star Wars: Episode III. Tartakovsky, the talent behind the critically acclaimed Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory, will return as director, co-screenwriter and executive producer of the new Star Wars: Clone Wars animated mini-series. Cartoon Network will air the new chapters from March 21 to March 25 with limited commercial interruptions. The first twenty chapters featured such fabled characters as Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker in the ongoing battle of the Army of the Republic against a vast uprising spearheaded by the Separatists and their massive droid armies. Chapter 20 introduced viewers to General Grievous, military leader of the Separatist armies, and a major character in next year's Star Wars: Episode III. The new mini-series will include an expanded role for Grievous." I don't know how many of you saw this when it aired, but I thought it was great and am definitely looking forward to more episodes. Especially in this new expanded format.

In other STAR WARS animation news. From TV Shows on DVD.Com:
"With the original Star Wars trilogy heading to DVD, it's no surprise that there would be some Star Wars related announcements at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.
In a 2 hour presentation, Steve Sansweet, Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm, announced that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment would bring the animated DROIDS ADVENTURES to DVD later this year. The series, which premiered in 1985, only ran for 15 episodes."
I'm looking forward to this since I only saw a couple of them when it first aired. Though it pales in comparison with the current "CLONE WARS" cartoons. The EWOKS cartoon from around the same time period, is also scheduled to be released around the same time as DROIDS.

The Clone Wars DVD set will be released in the Spring as well. The first 20 episodes will be released on DVD around the same time that the new episodes air.

CLONE WARS: Season 3 premieres tonight at 7pm on Cartoon Network! 5 episodes at 12 minutes long each, instead of the three minute episodes we got with Seasons 1 & 2. If you miss 'em on TV they will be available to watch at starwars.com and CartoonNetwork.com soon after being broadcast on television.

Oh man, for anyone who's interested, but missed them, you should check 'em out on CartoonNetwork.com. The final episode leaves off at exactly where EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH is going to start, truly making this animated series a prequel to the next movie. Very cool stuff and some sweet animated Jedi battle action.

I recorded and watched these yesterday and they were great! While the recent movies didn't do a whole lot for me the cartoons are amazing! I loved them - I love the focus on all the different jedi.

From IMDB:
Star Wars creator George Lucas has founded a new television and digital animation movie studio in Singapore. And the new studio's first project is Clone Wars, a TV series based on the Star Wars universe, which is due to hit screens in 2007. Lucas is expecting his new studio, which is based on the experience of Industrial Light & Magic and LucasArts, to set a precedent to the rest of the animation industry and to train "a new generation of digital artists". Chief technology Officer Cliff Plumer says, "We're leveraging not only the technology, but the expertise and the techniques developed over the years at Industrial Light & Magic and LucasArts to train a new generation of digital artists at our Singapore studio."
In the mean time, Season 2 of Cartoon Network's CLONE WARS will be out on DVD in December.
