Ok first off I'm gonna say this review (its not so much a review as my thoughts out loud) will contain spoilers but its the kind of movie that cant be discussed properly without mentioning them. I will try to minimilise any details on the spoilers though.

When I went to see LNS I had a fair idea of what it was about thanks to the trailer. I was also familiar with Paul McGuigan's work as Im huge fan of his, so was confident I would like what I was gonna see.
Was I right? All in all... I'd say yes.
You see first we have what looks like a great ensemble cast; Willis, Hartnett, Freeman, Kingsley, Tucci and Liu. Looks incredible however gripe number 1 is that only Hartnett and to a lesser extent Liu get enough screen time. The other 4 are at best cameos. Sure they're an integral part of the overall plot, but for me not enough screen time.
The plot is very good, in a convoluted sorta way. There are twists and turns and quite a few laugh out loud scenes. Infact Hartnett's Slevin is very funny and this is down to Hartnetts performance.
However...
This is were my major problem with this film lies.
Hartnett is fantastic as the gormless, I shouldn't be here, wrong place wrong time, Slevin. Too good in fact for the end to be believed. Because by the time the ending roles around and the twist kicks in, its fairly unbelieveable. The change is just too quick.
I did see some of the ending coming, that said though, some did surprise me. But again I reiterate that Hartnetts change is too much to take seriously because he was SO GOOD as Slevin.
People can (and if I know people, they will) argue that this had been planned for 20 years and he was just so into it he could be that good an actor. I say fuck all that. There is absolutely no hint of it at all, no edge, nothing.
That aside, the film is good and a definite one to watch again. I would highly recommend everyone here see's it, if only to assess it properly.
