For anyone interested, Rob Zombie is making a sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses".... "Bloody Disgusting reports on some “The Devil’s Rejects” casting. Rob Zombie’s assistant tells the site that, “Ken (Dawn of the Dead) Foree has signed on the play Charlie Altamont aka Captain Spaulding's pimp brother. If that ain't enough for you horror fiends Michael (The Hills Have Eyes) Berryman has signed to play Clevon, Charlie's dim witted sidekick”. " Can't wait to see this! But I'm a Rob Zombie fan so what can I say?

I am sorry, but House of a 1000 Corpses was a complete mess. I heard that the uncut version was better, but I seriously doubt it. Still if it has Ken Foree I might give it a try.

I'm not saying it was the greatest movie, but it was fun.

I hated House of 1000 Corpses! Please let there be no sequel.

To me it was like an odd bizarre mix of Rocky Horror & TCM... That's probably the best way to describe it. Without anybody actually doing "The Time Warp", of course. "HOUSE/1000 CORPSES" is by no means a great movie, but you can tell that Rob Zombie was trying to be tongue-in-cheek, so I didn't take it too seriously. The whole thing is a twisted homage to 70's horror flicks like "TCM" and "THE HILLS HAVE EYES". It's an "okay" first attempt by Zombie. If you're looking for serious horror, definitely look elsewhere.

That's probably the best way to describe it. Without anybody actually doing "The Time Warp", of course. heh heh...I've done the Time Warp a couple of times in my day.... ;D But seriously, I have no doubt that it wasn't meant to be a serious movie, so I just watched it w/ a sense of humor. Found this on comingsoon.net today: Bloody-Disgusting has learned that Mr. Jason Voorhees himself, Kane Hodder, has signed on as stunt coordinator of Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. The site says that the film will have some of "the most hardcore violent and visceral stunts he's ever put together."

I couldn't stand House of 1000 Corpses. Sitting through it was painful. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for homage movies. I'm a Tarantino fanatic, after all... but House of 1000 Corpses was a mess. The only bright point of that film: Captain Spaulding. Too bad the film fell apart after that beginning sequence.
If you want a REAL horror movie homage, watch Cabin Fever.

Found this on Creature Corner...
"'70s "it" girl and scream queen goddess PJ Soles ('Halloween' 'Carrie,' 'Rock N Roll High School') has signed on to the ever growing list of cult favorites. PJ will play Susan, a woman who, along with her young child, are violently car jacked by none other than Capt. Spaulding himself."
Miss Soles had this to say, "I'm all grown up and ready to scream again."

I am all for homages too. I can see that Rob Zombie was trying to make a movie like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I can even say I liked the first few minutes of the movie. My problem was there was nothing to it. It WAS Texas Chainsaw Massacre all over again, but with Rob Zombie trying to be all artsy. Did we really need to sit around for over a minute staring at a guy aiming a gun at a cop before he pulls the trigger. I thought my dvd broke at that point. Rob, you're a talented musician, stick with that.

I hope Rob Zombie took some classes on screenwriting.
I know it was a throwback to 70's slasher/horror, but still, there was no character development and it was really shallow. The promised violence and gore fell far short too. I'm not really excited about this new one--but my wife is.

I'm not really excited about this new one--but my wife is. Now, how much cooler can your wife get, Quorth? She likes John Waters, can't wait for the Corpses sequel... hats off. And back to the topic: I just rented the first movie and am about to watch it for the very first time right... about... now! Will get back to you later!
