There is absolutely going to be a SW live action TV series, Lucas acknowledged this in Indiana at STAR WARS CELEBRATION III. Word has it, set between Episodes III & IV, there's about twenty years worth of material to cover there. There is also going to be a new animated series. Even though there probably won't be anymore movies, between the two TV series, books, comics, video games, toys and other collectibles, SW will live on for many, many more years. ;D Look at STAR TREK as setting the precedent. Even though the original series died in the late sixties, I can't remember a time in my life when STAR TREK wasn't around in one form or another. (Animated Saturday morning cartoon, toys, books, comics, conventions and later the movies and more TV series.)

(VII, VIII, IX--heh heh, if Lucas only gets around to making them before he DIES.)Don't get the old rumor mill grinding... ;D But hypothetically, if he WERE to do another one...what story should he do? Before Ep. 1? After Ep.6? Anywhere in between that the movies didn't cover? I know there are the whole range of books out there that pretty much cover everything, but if Lucas were to do it? I'd like to see the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story...or Luke & Leia growing up....or where Maul came from. Just a thought... From what I know about VII, VIII, IX is that Luke goes all Dark side and Han and Leia have twins. That's all I know about the last trilogy. I'd like to see the trilogy of trilogies polished off. Everyone from the original series ('77-'83) would be just about the right age to resume their roles.

What I see take place (in the video games anyway) after the original trilogy is Luke starts his own Jedi Academy... as far as I know, he didn't join the dark side.

Aren't there a bunch of books and stuff about what happens afterwards?
Anyone read those? I think I've just read Shadows of the Empire, but that's it.

Aren't there a bunch of books and stuff about what happens afterwards? Anyone read those? I think I've just read Shadows of the Empire, but that's it. Yeah, there are lots of books, comics, video games, etc., taking place in different parts of the chronlogy. Some during the prequels, some during the original trilogy, some after RETURN OF THE JEDI, etc. Actually, Quorthon & Smitty, you're both right. Luke did go "dark side" for a bit, Han & Leia got married and had twins, Jacen & Jayna (sp?) and another son, Anakin. Luke did begin a new Jedi Academy with Han & Leia's kids as students. Some other stuff that happened in the books & comics, but we never saw on screen: Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc pit, Luke got married to a character named Mara Jade, who was once an agent of the Emperor's, Palpatine came back briefly as a younger cloned version, and Chewbacca was killed in an explosion saving Han & Leia's kids. All this stuff is considered official cannon by Lucasfilm, meaning they've okayed it as part of the actual story, but Lucas himself always has the right to do whatever he wants when it comes to the movies. Here's a scenario for how they could film Episodes VII - IX: It's twenty years after RETURN OF THE JEDI, Han & Leia got married and had kids. Luke is married to Mara Jade (to please fans of the books) and is now in the Obi-Wan role of training these kids in the ways of The Force. You get all the original stars back. Mark Hamill is just waiting for that phone call from Lucas. Harrison Ford & Carrie Fisher may not be crazy about doing it, but they probably would as a favor to Lucas. So you give them smaller roles, make Hamill a supporting character, along with Chewie, Lando (Billy Dee Williams) & the Droids, and make the kids the main characters. That way you get fresh actors in there to carry the movies, but you have the original stars to tie it together. You could even have Luke communicate with Yoda's spirit from time to time, for even more of a tie-in. Give them some big galactic threat to deal with, maybe some surviving members of the Empire have been rebuilding their forces all this time waiting for their chance to strike, etc., and you've got a new trilogy. ;D

Hey, that's not a bad idea..I think you're on to something dude... ;D With all the book & comics material this SW thing could go on forever...

Ok, I'm a little late in the game on this one. I totally agree with Heineken's review. I even caught myself hoping for a different ending even though I knew it had to happen that way. I think the opening battle sequence was a little too long though. My eyes started to glaze over after a while and it wasn't from lack of sleep. I'd say this one now ranks third with me. STAR WARS and EMPIRE come first.

Okay, for the two or three of you out there who haven't seen it yet, there's good news from the world of home video:
Star Wars fans will be able to complete their collection of the six "episodes" of the sci-fi serial on Nov. 1 when the final installment, Revenge of the Sith, is released on DVD. Lucasfilm also announced that it will release the video game Star Wars: Battlefront II on the same day. The final DVD package will include an extended "making of" documentary, Jim Ward, vice president of marketing and distribution for Lucasfilm, said in a statement. "From the beginning of production, George wanted to be sure we chronicled everything that went into the making of Episode III specifically to create an incredible DVD experience," he said. Can't wait! ;D

Lucas can't get any respect from the critics, but "the people" have spoken. ;D
From IMDB:
People's Choice Awards Feels the Force
The film that earned the most money in 2005 has also been chosen as the public's favorite film of the year. At Tuesday night's annual People's Choice awards, Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith beat out all of the Oscar favorites to win the best film title.
Nice.

I only watched it once when it was in theaters & have watched it at least 5 times now on dvd. It actually gets better with each viewing & the dvd gives it the justice it deserves. If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences were not a bunch of phoney's, this movie would win the Oscar for best picture.

I saw it six times in theaters and have watched it once on DVD, plus once on DVD with the commentary. ;D
Well, the Academy is known for almost never rewarding major box office hits with Oscar wins. I think SITH definitely deserves nominations for visual effects & costume design. The Academy has completely overlooked the prequels in the costume department and that's amazing to me. I would also love to see Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine/Darth Sidious) get a nomination or Best Supporting Actor, but it's a safe bet it won't happen.
