Anyone else seen this? It got awful reveiws but i really enjoyed it. Yeah,it's basically just a slasher movie but if you have to make a slasher movie this is the way to do it! Good suspense building in the first half, some great gory killings, the odd jolt, {loved some of the scenes with the wax dummies},acting well, not great, but what do you expect? Lots of references to other, similar films which pleased a horor fan like myself without becoming blatant steals. Good to see another one which didn't pander to the PG-13 market too.....

I heard bad, bad things about this one. Must check it out as soon as I can, of course!

Plus, you have to consider the Paris Hilton factor... Unless she dies a REALLY gruesome death..then that would be worth watching. ;D

O she does, her death scene is probably the best of the lot! To answer IamTheSmitty,I've also seen loads of horror films that are alot like it,but these slasher films are all quite samey really,I thought there were some good ideas in this one along with the cliches.
P.S.for an alternative viewpoint to IamTheSmitty's check out my IMDB review!

I wanted to just for the hell of it, but I can't find anyone to go with me. And no, I won't go to a movie by myself. There's just something about doing that I just don't like.

...I won't go to a movie by myself. There's just something about doing that I just don't like. I love going to movies by myself. Don't have to worry "Will they like the film or not?" all the time when I'm with somebody. I'm an idiot, I know.

I never worry about, "Will they like it or not?". I just like to be able to discuss the movie afterwards with the person who just watched it with me. I've been to a couple of movies by myself and I don't care for it either. Even being able to elbow the person next to you and whispering, "Did you see that??" or "Man, does this suck." or "That effect was pretty cool!", is kinda nice.

Went to see this a couple of days ago and I have to say it was a LOT better than I expected.
It's been a while since I saw a genuinely nasty horror movie in a theater (even Wrong Turn had chickened out in the gore department, IMHO). Plus Haute Tension and Hellbent are coming. I hope they'll live up to expectations...
As for this movie being "another slasher", well, what the hell were reviewers expecting? This was basically "Tourist Trap for the 'new millenium'", but actually done right. Gotta love that...

I never worry about, "Will they like it or not?" I TRY not to worry about this, too, but it just doesn't always work. Last time I convinced five of my friends to go with me to see The Ring 2, telling them it's gonna be ace (I loved the first remake, you know) -- and with each minute of the film I was sinking deeper in my chair.

I think this is one of the best of the remake lot, fantastic stalking, absolutely brutal kills, some genuine horror-inflicted moments (that part with the wax dummy being sliced open to reveal healthy pink flesh underneath was quite unnerving) and while it did start off way too slow for my taste, the spectacular ending more than made up for it. Tons of action, a bit of suspense, great visuals, it was a blast, and made the rest of the film that much more enjoyable. If it only featured nudity, it would've been a perfect experience.
