I had my issues with New Nightmare but it still seems we feel more or less the same about the series: it's lots of fun even if sometimes it's difficult to call it 'horror' anymore. Did I say I went as far as to liking Part 2? I think I did. Well, two did have its moments. My fav. part is when the main guy is playing with the cork gun and gets caught. The was hysterical. I liked the pool scene too.

A fellow admirer of Freddy's Revenge - I can honestly say I didn't expect to experience that! ;D
My favourite moment in it is when Freddy...
...everyone saw this movie already, but what the hell: SPOILER!
...is getting out of the main character, throwing away the no longer needed body. Pretty sick and with surprisingly good f/x.

Thought I would revive this thread in honor of the horror holiday coming up in a week or so. Of course, I picked the first movie as well. I remember being terrified of going to sleep after I first watched it. When I first saw what Robert Englund really looked like without the make-up I was so shocked - he seems like such a nice guy in 'real life.' That helped me get over my fear of Freddy. My second favorite movie is probably New Nightmare, although I enjoyed Freddy vs. Jason as well (fun movie!).

Freddy Vs. Jason was surprisingly good. In my opinion - much better than several last episodes of the Elm Street franchise or ANY of the Friday The 13th movies. I was afraid the makers may aim for a Jason X-like thingy with the Versus movie but thankfully they didn't.

I was afraid the makers may aim for a Jason X-like thingy with the Versus movie but thankfully they didn't. Couldn't agree more. I'm not a Jason fan in any way, shape or form. And only a few of the Freddy flicks are worth mentioning, as far as I'm concerned, but I was very entertained by F VS J. It was a pretty good mix of humor and body count. Not a classic horror film, but for what it was, and what it was trying to do, I thought it was quite successful. Much more so than the more recent monster team-up of ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, which I always thought would be the far better of the two movies. All goes back to writing & directing, no matter what the genre.

Ahh Crap! Forgot about Wes Craven's New Nightmare Well I have to put that title on my un-watched list. Oh I voted for the first film, but that might change if I REALLY like the last.

I just rented ANOES 3 and New Nightmare...am I in for a treat? You are - with ANOES 3 at least! My second favourite film in the franchise with some good special effects and cool one-liners; plus, Heather Langenkamp comes back in it. And though Heather comes back in New Nightmare for the third time (looking better than ever) - I liked this one much less than #3.

You'll have to tell the board how you liked your rentals.
I liked New Nightmare - I thought it was fun horror.

I liked it too, make no mistake. But it wasn't as good as #1 or #3 in my opinion.

Okay, saw em this morn.
#3: Great FX and fun! I love this one. The second best in the series.
New Nightmare: Pretty good, just a tad too confusing in some parts. The third best in the series.
