A disturbingly underrated sci-fi... another good movie critics are afraid to like. Granted, it didn't deserve any Oscars, and it certainly isn't the best movie of 1999, but it was highly enjoyable all the same.
Robin Williams plays a robot with a unique personality, who eventually develops human characteristics. The character development in this movie was great.
One major complaint I had about this movie, it's so damn long! It's a very good story, very entertaining, but the last half hour, I caught myself glancing at my watch. It's not that I wasn't enjoying the movie, but I felt as though it was never going to end. I know he's supposed to last 200 years, but History of the World: Part I did that in less time.
But it's still a great movie, and it comes highly recommended by me.
Plot: 20/20 Screenwriting: 7/20 Characters: 20/20 Acting: 20/20 Direction: 20/20 Visual Effects: 10/10 Sets: 10/10 Costumes: 10/10 Cinematography: 10/10 Score: 10/10
(Someone please recommend me a bad movie, I'm liking everything and that's beginning to scare me.)
Overall: 9/10

...Someone please recommend me a bad movie, I'm liking everything and that's beginning to scare me... Ah, yes - a movie we'd all uniformly despise is hard to find! ;D Try Police Academy 7 or some such sequel, Smitty!

Hey, don't knock Police Acedemy 7. ;D I've seen Bicentennial Man soo many times while browsing dvds at my local shop & never stopped to think, you know this really is a great film, I should buy this. Thanks for the reminder Smitty of a true underated flick.

Still haven't seen this one. Williams was going through his "Touchy-Feely Trilogy", ie: BICENTENNIAL MAN, PATCH ADAMS & JACK, and I just can't bring myself to rent this. Or either of the other two, for that matter.

Or either of the other two, for that matter. In fact, I recently managed to force myself to watch Patch Adams and - guess what! - it's not all bad! The other two I still haven't seen though. And Term: do you REALLY like Police Academy: Mission To Moscow?! I believed I belonged to the minority of fans who liked Part 5 and didn't totally hate Part 6, but Mission To Moscow has just driven me crazy! ...If it was just a joke - that's alright then. ;D

I do own it though. I bought the boxed set, I dunno why, I can't remember much after watching the set except I lost A Lot of weight mainly to my brain. ;D

(Someone please recommend me a bad movie, I'm liking everything and that's beginning to scare me.) The Smitty ApprovesIf for some reason you ever want advice on something truly crappy to watch, just ask me! I've seen more crap than pretty much anybody! Except for a friend of mine--who buys all that crap! Here's some crap: Troll 2 -- brainless horror, terrible effects, some of the worst acting imaginable. Released by MGM?? Jason X -- same old Friday 13th crap, but in outer space!! OOHHH!! Some mild hilarity. Leprachaun 4 -- more horror that found it's way to outer space!!Blood Lake -- below-standard slasher fare, the killer is a bearded guy with one pant leg tucked into one of his cowboy boots--I'm not kidding. Opening title? Garfield logo font, yeah, Garfield the cat. House of the Dead -- Warning!! May actually dry brain, create atmosphere of stupid. Howling III -- Marsupial werewolfs, gayest happy ending imaginable, PG-13, beyond poor writing (wish I hadn't bought it) Chiller -- Wes Craven made for TV movie, I believe, 5-dollar bin DVD. Man chriogenically frozen, wakes up all crazy. Insipid. Alligator 2 -- As I recall, 95% of the film is about corrupt politicians not being alligators eating people. Lawnmowerman 2 -- Love the first film? This one will make you angry!!That's all for now!! (Oh yeah, and Bicentennial Man was a surprisingly good film.)

Hmm... based on your recommendations I may have to eventually break down and check out BICENTENNIAL MAN. But god, it really does look "touchy-feely".

Yeah, I've seen both Jason X and House of the Dead. I don't know what they were thinking putting Voorhees in a comedy... and House of the Dead, directed by Uwe Boll... the modern day answer to Ed Wood.

Of course, I was talking about the director, not the movie. ;D

Of course, I was talking about the director, not the movie. ;D I was talking about the director, too. Ed Wood at least tried to make good films. Uwe Boll? He has no idea what he's doing...
