Do you watch anime (japanese animation) and if so which are your favorite shows and movies?
I want to do a variety of posts on anime movies and series, so I decided to do a sort of scouting in the field beforehand.
Some of my favorites are:
TV SERIES: - Neon genesis Evangelion. - Saint Seiya. - Ranma 1/2. - Akihabara. - Escaflowne.
MOVIES: - Grave of the fireflies. - Kite. - The end of Evangelion. - Akira.

Honestly, I haven't seen much Anime, but two movies that stand out were AKIRA and VAMPIRE HUNTER D. Also saw THE GUYVER and a couple of others, but that's about it. Don't watch any Anime series though.

Miyazaki is basically where my knowlegde of anime begins and ends. Want to see those films that have be re-issued on DVD, but haven't had a chance yet. But Spirited Away has to be one of the most beautiful movies, animated or live-action, out there.

I used to be really into Dragonball Z but stopped watching after the Saiyan saga. Cowboy Bebop is cool, too.
The movies I've seen were pretty damn good:
Akira Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Spirited Away
I've been meaning to see Princess Mononoke and Ninja Scroll, just haven't had much of a chance.

My favourite films are: - Akira - Ghost in the Shell - Innocence - Wonderful Days - Porco Rosso - Laputa: Castle in the Sky - Cowboy Bebop: The Movie - Ninja Scroll - Vampire Hunter D - Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - Spirited Away - Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro
My favourite series are: - Cowboy Bebop - Lupin III - Patlabor - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Witch Hunter Robin - Big O - Hellsing
There are lots more that I like, but these would have to be my stand-out faves

Yea, I mainly watch the 'mainstream' anime stuff. Love Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service (by the same guy), and I used to watch Cowboy Bebop when they showed it on cartoon network. I also have seen this one, and I forget what it's called, about a teacher and his students. GTO I think. My sister made me watch it (she is one of those teens that is a anime freak!) and it was pretty freakin' hilarious.
DXM: good list you have going! There is supposed to be an 'Anime Channel' coming soon by Cartoon Network. Hae you seen it?

Dragonball Z Mobile Suit Gundam Gundam Wing Ronin Warriors Akira Ghost in the Shell (the original movie)
and my favorite: [glow=orange,2,300]DEVIL MAN[/glow]

Not a huge fan of animated movies but Anime is OK to me. Though I don't know why when I think about it I associate this stuff with deviant sexual movies ;D ;D

I don't know why when I think about it I associate this stuff with deviant sexual movies Hey, Hentai (re: Porn) anime can be quality stuff, too! There being such products as the above mentioned "Kite" (the director's cut, that is), Urotsokidoji, Super Tabbo [Or was this only in manga format? Now I can't remember], Ai no kusabi, etc.... Of course, as with regular anime (hell, as with ANYTHING), there are as much well-made, even truly artistic movies as there are plain wastes of film. It's just a matter of discriminating taste, I guess.

I've watched Kite. The Director's cut, naturally. I couldn't believe the anime stuff might be a such a good movie. Not to that extent. But it was. The plot, the action, the F/X , and such an ending! I was really sad when her lover was shot and she was left alone after such misery waiting for him in vain thinking he just dumped her. The flick was deep, making you think with a message. Thank you Fenril for an excellent tip.
