For me Dog Soldiers is no doubt one of the best werewolf movies; I'm not sure it's better than Howling (which I saw long time ago and liked) or American Werewolf In London (which - shame on me! - I haven't seen at all), so the safest bet will be 'One or two...' in my case.

Well Dog Soldiers is my third favorite werewolf film behind The Howling and AAWIL. As a matter of fact I watched Dog Soldiers last night and I hope that the sequel is just as good.

I voted for "One or two...", but only by default. Personally, I wasn't that impressed by DOG SOLDIERS, I found it quite derivative of a lot of other movies (EVIL DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE HOWLING, ALIENS, to name a few), but it still makes it into the top ten because I haven't actually seen that many good werewolf movies. After THE HOWLING, which I love, AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and THE WOLFMAN, the pickings start to get kind of slim. I vaguely remember CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF with Oliver Reed, but couldn't tell you much about it. I haven't seen GINGER SNAPS or UNDERWORLD yet, so I don't know where they would rate. Does THE WOLFEN count as a werewolf movie? What about COMPANY OF WOLVES? Remember WOLF with Jack Nicholson? Promising start, but then, you know... Seriously, what other good werewolf movies are out there? Bartwald, I highly recommend you rent AMERICAN WEREWOLF... before it starts to get even more dated.

"Dog Soldiers" is not as good as "Ginger Snaps",but it certainly delivers plenty of blood and guts.I enjoyed this film very immensely.

I found Dog Soldiers quite good, and for all the reasons 42ndstreet... mentioned. I had a great time with this movie, and the dialogue was razor-sharp. Plus, it's nice to see a movie in recent years that eskerewed those bloated computer-generated monsters in favor of actual customes.
Wolfen --this may well be my favorite werewolf movie, except when you think about it a little this wasn't really about werewolves... Even so, I reiterate: I loved it, am aware that plenty of people don't, and love it even more for it (not that I intentionally seek maligned movies, mind you).
I haven't seent that many werewolf movies, either, nor read that many books --which is odd now that I think of it, because I love werewolves.
Oh, yeah, besides Wolfen, my favorites would have to be "Ginger Snaps", "AWIL", maybe "The wolfman" except I'm not too fond of the makeup there, and I'd have to think a little more. I am not especially fond of "The howling"... I dunno, it just never grew on me.

Yup, I see it now, too. But is Smitty's avatar ever coming back?

I thought it was really good. The Howling and ...in London were better or The Wolfman.

Quorthon considered this to be the best werewolf film he'd ever seen at the time of it's viewing. A far cry better than that shit-eatingly awful "Dark Wolf." Ugh. Well... "Wolf" is great, too. But is it really a werewolf film...?
