Ok, perhaps that was a bit harsh. It had its moments, really, it did. And maybe in a day or two I'll change my mind. So I'll wait before writing my full review. But here's my biggest problem with the movie.
It's the same problem I had with Freddy Vs. Jason. They played one of them off to be a good guy. That's not a good idea. STOP DOING IT. In fact, next time you cross over two forces of evil, let the humans die and let the two forces do battle without human intervention; it's really cheesy and annoying. And then you have one of them turn good? NO! NO! NO! Stop doing that! These crossovers had potential. Stop cheesing it up by making one of them good.
But one thing's for sure, and I am in agreement with Heineken on this: at least it was better than Van Helsing.... and Catwoman.

It's the same problem I had with Freddy Vs. Jason. They played one of them off to be a good guy. Did they? Both Freddy and Jase were killing "innocent human beings" there so I'm not sure we can say that one of them was a good guy. And which one would that be, by the way?

Well, they decided to go this "Jason isn't ALL bad because a group of mean kids killed him when he was at camp" route. I must wholeheartedly disagree. Jason didn't HAVE to kill people, but he did. He is bad. I got pissed when the humans intervened, it wasn't a fair fight. They tried to push the audience to root for Jason.
What they should do with these Vs movies... if they MUST have humans, kill them all. Leave no survivors among the cast. Then let the two monsters do battle. THAT would be awesome.

The only way thats gonna happen is if they opt for a silent movie though (in terms of dialogue).
Incidentally its not based on the games at all.

More Aliens and Predators to come thanks to AVP earning mountains of cash?
"Aliens vs.Predator" has done quite good, a lot better than expected, so don't be surprised if "Alien 5" - or a "Predator 3" for that matter - happens now.
According to IMDB Hollywood superstar Sigourney Weaver has hinted she may consider starring in another Alien sequel - to explore character Ellen Ripley's dark side. The statuesque actress - who was nominated an Oscar for her performance in first sequel Aliens - wants the franchise to return to its small beginnings by focusing on the psychology of gun-totting Ripley. Sigourney says, "I always said to Tom Rothman, who runs Fox, that I thought it would be interesting to do a small, spooky movie, more like the first one; a psychological thriller that could take Ripley to whatever the next stage may be. Which side would win out, the Jekyll or the Hyde?"

Update of the new Alien and Predator films:
The plan is - new stand-alone Predator movies, new stand-alone Alien movies. No sequel to AvP at the moment. If anything, AvP was a way of a re-introducing these characters so that there could be new stand-alone films in their respective series. Never was it a plan to do a series of AvP movies.
One Predator 3 pitch that's been doing the rounds sounds stellar. It's set in snowy New York, and re-introduces Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, Dutch. You'd think the possibility of this one happening hinders on whether Schwarzenegger returns to the Governors chair but not necessarily, word is they think they could easily have someone else play the character from here on in. They picture 'Dutch' as being this big 'Riddick/Snake Plissken' esque character that will inevitably be more of a drawcard than the monster itself.
The script's apparently hotter than the Californian Sun. Best of all, for the studio, it leaves it open for a Predator 4 - which is rumoured to feature a female rogue.
As for Alien, the latest is that it'll be a Ridley Scott - Sigourney Weaver re-team. Talk is underway, but it's still early days. Wouldn't be surprised if it's hurried though

I want my two hours back! I hated this movie on so many levels! I was so disappointed after seeing it. Good thing we had a free pass and I used my college ID to get a student discount! I would have been terribly upset had we paid full price for this! There were so many plot holes as Heineken pointed out. SPOILER: I was almost wishing that her alien "shield" would somehow malfunction and burn the flesh from her puny arm! But no, she lives with all her appendages in tact! And then pushes a Predator around! I then wanted the Predator to rip her little head off. No, she defeats the alien queen and the Predators make her an honorary warrior. Feh!! Again I say, feh! And, all the Predator/Alien fight scenes were so dark I couldn't see who was doing what!

Why the hate? Sure it could have done with more gore (though it was hardly violence free) and it was too short... but otherwise it did the job it set out to do perfectly. It covered both bases as for as the Aliens and the Predators were concerned, had some great sets, some solid fights between to the two species and was entertaining. Just too short, and not gory enough. But most certainly NOT a crap fest, in the slightest. And was pretty ruthless with it's Human characters. Though "Predator 2" beat them to the finale!

I had too many problems with AvP; it lacked consistency with the rest of the Alien franchise (as pointed out before), the human cast were the most uninteresting characters I had ever seen, the fight scenes were too dark, and I really wanted that main chick to die. I hated her.
It could have been done so much better. An R-rating would have been nice, memorable characters, consistency with both franchises, no bias towards one monster, and a fair final battle between the two monsters.
That's the problem with most modern action/horror flicks, they don't have any interesting characters. They don't take the time to make another Ripley, Dutch, Ash, or Nada. The closest we come as of late is Riddick. That's it? A FUCKING VIN DIESEL CHARACTER? Other than that, it's Alice from Resident Evil... and let's face it, she's no Ripley.

Well you can't moan about outrunning a 2000 feet down explosion in this...not when Arnie outruns the same huge explosion AT GROUND LEVEL in "Predator" with onlt a coating of dust. Am i right? Oh yes.
Sure there are plot holes (I agree on the blood running down the spear onto her hand, how she got away...but hey! Perhaps she never did!)....but one of the most stupid, and totally self-made, plotholes ever is when the now silly 'vampire hunter' Harker in 'Hammer's' amazingly overrated "Horror of...Dracula" decides not to stake Dracula and thus end the movie 15 minutes in and instead decides to stake the Bride for no reason whatsoever....except the idiot writers wrote themselves into a stupid hole.
And people tend to orgasm at the very thought of that movie for some reason.
Plot holes are everywhere, sure they are bad...but why this is getting slammed so much i do not know.

Actually...it's obvious how she escaped. She took one of the sled vehicles and went back to the ship!! It would have a crew you know. And the crew did not go on the expedition.
