I picked up that Vanity Fair issue yesterday. The cover is sweet! Besides all the actors & characters Bart mentioned, also featured in the photo are Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine), Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), Jimmy Smits (Bail Organa), Pernell August (Shmi Skywalker), Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Yoda, General Grievous & Jar Jar. Would love to get a poster of this. It's like a STAR WARS Class Reunion.

And Lucas's statement - "I'm going to make movies nobody wants to see" - also sounds promising. That is - if you get to believe him.

I'll have to peruse the magazine rack at work & take a look at the cover. Sounds pretty sweet!

I thought he was already doing that with Episode I and II... ...and Howard the Duck. Well if Lucas meant what you said and if he continues doing it I'll have to change my mind completely. I thought he is going to stop shooting pop flicks and start creating artistic masterpieces like THC again. If you're right I'll be among non-viewers too.

STAR WARS GOES 3-D... From Dark Horizons: George Lucas is such a fan of the latest 3-D technology that he is planning to remaster all of the "Star Wars" films for rerelease in 3-D says today's The Hollywood Reporter.
Appearing as part of a sextet of high-profile directors (James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis, Peter Jackson, Robert Rodriguez and Randal Kleiser) promoting 3-D and digital cinema at ShoWest on Thursday, Lucas said he hadn't yet committed to a precise schedule but hoped to have the first film ready for the 30th anniversary of the original "Star Wars" movie in 2007 and that he would then rerelease one "Star Wars" film per year in 3-D.

Light swords duels and battles in space in 3D That would be something to look forward.

3-D Star Wars? Sounds cool. Maybe someone will convince him to remove all that extra crap he stuffed into the original trilogy.
However...
3-D Jar Jar?? After hurricaines and tsunamis and terrorists and all, does the world really need that, too?

STAR WARS with "all that extra crap" is the way Lucas wants STAR WARS to always be, from now on. Embrace the Dark Side, Quorthon. It is your destiny. ;D

Here's an interesting littl tid bit I found...
LONDON (Reuters) - The next "Star Wars" theme tune will be issued as a single to coincide with the big screen release of the final episode of the epic science-fiction films.
The song, composed by five-time Oscar winner John Williams, could force its way into the top 10 in music charts around the world - a rare achievement for a choral and orchestral piece.
"Only 'Star Wars' could do it," Gennaro Castaldo, spokesman for the 200 HMV retail stores across Britain and Ireland, said.
"I'm not sure it will get to number one, but it should have a strong showing in the top 10."
Interest in the film, the heavy merchandising cache of "Star Wars" and some top 10 charts counting Internet downloads for the first time, will all boost sales, he said.
SonyBMG will release "Battle of the Heroes" on May 23. The song depicts the fateful struggle between Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker and his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Williams conducts and the London Symphony Orchestra performs, the same combination on the original score 28 years ago.
"Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith" is the final episode of the six-part series and stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson. It is released in cinemas worldwide on May 19.
