The Dark Half, Ashqueroso? Well, that's an original choice... but then again: I loved it, too; hell, I even thought that Romero's adaptation of it wasn't exactly bad.

So there will be a new Stephen King book (with no Dark Tower ties), after all! Check this out:
First, Steve was able to ride his Harley this week for the first time since his accident six years ago. While he still feels the effects of the accident, this should be a great step forward mentally for him.
He has written another novel that sounds pretty interesting, but at this time it is only in the first draft and he has no publishing plans for it right now. I am willing to bet that we might see it in a year or two. It is based on something that happened to him late last fall at the house here in Bangor! No title that we can divulge.

I haven't read any of the choices offered! But I've read a ton of his work. Probably Christine is my favorite.

Some news on the man -- first of all, it appears we can expect a series of films based on King's stories from the Nightmares And Dreamscapes collection. Bill Haber and his Ostar Enterprises are developing this limited series based on the book of short stories by Stephen King. The deal calls for Ostar to develop scripts for eight one-hour episodes. Mick Garris (The Stand, Sleepwalkers) and Mike Robe (News at Eleven, Guts and Glory: The Rise and Fall of Oliver North), Peter Filardi (TNT’s Salem’s Lot, Flatliners), Larry Cohen (Phone Booth, Cellular), April Smith (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter) and Richard Christian Matheson (Mobius, Dean Koontz’s Sole Survivor) have signed to pen scripts for the series. NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES is based on Stephen King’s 1993 anthology of 20 short stories, whose subjects include murderous revenge, dead rock stars, zombies, an evil toy and a wicked stepfather, to name a few.Secondly, here goes the cover of King's upcoming novel:

Cool to hear about the series for the short stories. Any word on where it will air? The new novel looks interesting. When is it coming out?

Ha ha, that's funny--The only book I kept out during "The Great Packing" for the move the wife and I are going through was Nightmare's and Dreamscapes.
Be cool to see "The Ten O'Clock People" in film form.

Cool to hear about the series for the short stories. Any word on where it will air? The new novel looks interesting. When is it coming out? The book's scheduled for November or October this year and it may be a great one - let's remember that King's other "detective story", Umney's Last Case (from Nightmares And Dreamscapes), belongs to his best short stories ever. Quorth - good for you! It's a pretty nice collection. Uneven but with several great pieces.

King's past essays from Entertainment Weekly are now available without subscription at www.ew.com/ew/stephenking ; worth checking out, as the author has his say on Land Of The Dead, DVD extras, the, uh, Michael Jackson trial - and much more.

So now King is writing... a zombie book! This must be as cool as it gets, right? Check out the news: The novel is titled CELL and has to do with bad cell phone signals that destroy the brain and turn users into mindless zombies….
What SK is doing is auctioning off a chance for you to be a character in his new novel CELL. King is currently working on the novel and it is slated for a release in 2006 or 2007. The novel is being described as a violent piece of work which comes complete with zombies set in motion by bad cell phone signals that destroy folks brains.More about it on Creature Corner >>> www.creature-corner.com/?type=news&id=758
