From IMDB: Movie mogul Brian De Palma is revisiting his epic gangster film The Untouchables almost 20 years after it became a huge hit. The filmmaker is keen to make prequel The Untouchables: Capone Rising in time for the 20th anniversary of the 1987 original. The story will focus upon the young Al Capone as he rises to become a Chicago, Illinois criminal kingpin. The original film centered upon lawmaker Eliot Ness' efforts to arrest the infamous gangster, played by Robert De Niro. Ah, dammit - this isn't the best direction for De Palma to go. Horrors, thrillers, sir - that's what I'm waiting for!

I agree. I liked The Untouchables, but to me it's stuff like Dressed To Kill or Carrie that show the real De Palma at his best.

Is this going to be a straight to dvd release? Yes, straight to DVD. Carlito's Way Ultimate Edition DVD is coming out two weeks before it - gotta get this one!

I thought that poster/artwork had the smell of straight to video on it. Isn't Luis Guzman a little too old to play a younger version of his role from the original?? I'll be sure to pick up the Ultimate Edition DVD of the original though. Haven't seen it since it was in theaters.

I'll be sure to pick up the Ultimate Edition DVD of the original though. Haven't seen it since it was in theaters. I saw it several times already - at the theatre, on tape, and on TV - but this will be my first DVD viewing; the champagne is waiting to be opened in September: this, in my very opinion, is one of De Palma's best films!

"Sisters," the 1973-thriller with a BERNARD HERMANN score! Great film, really. His Black Dahlia film will be excellent, he knows L.A. and where she's been pretty intimately. Only David Lynch could do it besides DePalma. Check James Gilmore's book "Severed," the only book you will ever need about the subject. He spent decades writing it, and his father was even LAPD. The only book endorsed by the LAPD on the subject, period.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! This reminds me once more that I haven't seen Sisters: time and time again I hear it's one of De Palma's best and can't get it anywhere. Torture! And now they're remaking it, dammit! I'd hate to see the remake before seeing the original.
Black Dahlia will rock, sure.

My favorite DiPalma is RAISING CAIN, because the lead character is DiPalma himself. The story is just crazy, but you're rooting for DiPalma: how will he make this scene work? How long can he hold that tracking shot through the mall? Is he really pushing Lithgow to overact that much? You can say similar to all of DiPalma's work, but especially the stuff he developed himself. Femme Fatale, Phantom of the Paradise, Dressed to Kill, all of his smaller, stranger movies. He's a guy who loves to play with a panavision camera. God help us if he goes digital!
